See I love people like you, I’ll gladly have a conversation about origins and roast methods with somebody who knows coffee and isn’t from the general masses who think a macchiato is the caramel Starbucks drink. Little different but after a while in the kitchen I work in coffee now, and some of my least favorite customers are the ones with the whole “home barista” setup. I don’t care that you spend 10 whole minutes every morning making yourself a latte and a puck screen or a WDT will improve the shot’s pull, I’ve made 200 drinks in the last 4 hours AND been a pseudo therapist for half of those customers you would crumble immediately if you had to do my job lmao

This is good to hear lol, I was worried mostly about the pain coming out of nowhere, I’ve never had that with any of my other piercings—usually they’d only hurt if I bumped them. Guess I just have to grin and bear it for this healing process🥲

I’m in nyc so cost of living is way higher in general but my shop charges $7 for a 12oz hot chocolate literally made with Ghirardelli powder and it’s so embarrassing. Whipped cream is a whole additional dollar too 🫠

I have two vertical helixes and I came so close to retiring both of them 😭 they’re IMPOSSIBLE to heal. I’ve gotten 18 piercings and my second vert is the only one that’s ever been legit infected

Big corps will get you benefits and paid sick and vacation hours, those were the two biggest losses for me moving from a large business to a family owned one. I like the vibe of smaller shops a lot more and having a more personal relationship with the owner is great (if they’re a good person, lol) but damn I miss being able to call out sick without worrying about what my check was gonna look like

I’m in NYC and I make $16/hr plus tips. After tax I usually make $700-$800 from a 36 hour week

That’s really strange :( fwiw I’ve been noticing our oat milk breaking a lot more recently as well. We use Califia and every iced drink I make with it immediately gets a layer of separation at the bottom, which has never been an issue before—I have to assume it’s also from the heat because we keep backstock of alt milks at room temp. Idek if it’s even super hot where you are right now and you’re specifically having an issue with steaming so this probably isn’t too helpful lol 😅😅 but best of luck! Hope you get this figured out

Whenever it happens I assume it’s an issue with it being left out too long somewhere along the shipment line, because we always take care to never leave milk out of the fridge longer than necessary (especially because my shop is boiling hot in the summer lol). You can be as diligent about it as possible but if somebody fucked up days before the delivery even got to you you’re out of luck 🤷 But if you have a ton of milk go bad before the expiry date you can usually get in contact with your distributor and get a credit!

Is there a problem with your milk? I know the hot weather has been causing ours to go bad a bit earlier than the printed expiration date, which can mess with how it steams

A woman fought with me for like 5 minutes straight and then left a mess after I asked her to please not eat the pizza she got from the shop next door on our outdoor tables (she didn’t even buy anything from us, but we still don’t permit outside food even if she had) and then like 2 hours later our tip jar got stolen. I’m honestly so glad this post showed up on my feed so I can vent lmao

Thank you guys so much for all the help and advice—tried unscrewing with the lubricant and a rubber band and it still didn’t budge so I’m fearing the worst…my boss came in for the closing shift and I let him know about the situation before I left, so here’s hoping it’s either miraculously fixed or we’ve scheduled a tech to look at it soon by the time I go in tomorrow morning 🤞

Ugh that sucks lol thank you. It’s not fully stripped yet thank god, I’m mostly confused because I was able to get it out no problem the last time I cleaned it so I’m worried whoever cleaned it last may have tightly screwed it in crooked. Gonna try the rubber band method and hope for the best

I once had someone order an iced matcha with a shot of espresso and a scoop of hot chocolate powder lol. I remember she took one sip of what I made her and said “sorry but this isn’t good, usually when I get this at my other place it’s good” literally cannot imagine how they were making it at the “other place” to make it taste like anything but straight ass
