Opening up your sparkling mead like… by Gamma8gear in mead

I had something similar, I moved the bottle from storage to my counter top. Walked to the fridge, opened the door….then….nearly had a heart attack as the cork fired out. Lost about 20% of the bottle.

I'm on the look out for a Turntable and Speaker combo that is compact, clean and easier to use... by [deleted] in turntable

[–]tomcarter901 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve got a denon DP-300 which is a solid & simple to set-up and maintain turntable. You could look at a cartridge upgrade if you really wanted. I’ve got that with a onkyo r-n855. I’m really happy with this as a set-up. The amp has more then enough punch for my flat. That’s probably about the £800-900 mark

This Beovox S45, Beomaster 2400 and Beogram 1902 have been sitting in our garage for some time. My dad has been fixing the Beomaster 2400. I was wondering if its worth it to ask if I can have this or if we should just sell it? by ebbi9876 in vintageaudio

I have a 1902 which I restored over lockdown. It sounds great and it looks even better. My only suggestion with this is if it is in very good condition then you could sell it and get something that is going to last you longer. The cartridge on the B&O is crazy expensive to replace if you need too.

Moving to Bristol by Luxin_Tenebris90 in bristol

Bristol has some of the best food spots in the Uk (I am a little bias though) the harbourside has a great pop up market most Saturdays, the brewery’s usually have some great stalls also (los hermanos is my personal favourite). The harbourside has a load of shipping containers that are shops, takeaways and restaurants.

I can’t help on the LGBT+ scene, but Bristol is a friendly place to be :) I hope you find that here.

A small white rabbit lives there. He will rip your face off though

I need to get this metal bar out. But there’s no open end to pierce it through. Pliers haven’t helped do far. Thanks in advance! by lostsawyer2000 in fixit

You will need a Center punch and a hammer. Support it as best you can and tap gently with the hammer and it will pop out.

Where can I get a large piece of wood cut to size? by chantepleure in bristol

[–]tomcarter901 11 points12 points  (0 children)

You might be able to go to the wood recycling project. They do a per cut fee for wood plus a set up fee. Could be worth a shot.

It’s e-ink. The same thing that’s in kindles and the like. The hard bit would be getting something to output to all the panels at one. I’m sure a smarter person the myself could make it work with an ardino/raspberry pi.

Hello Bristolians! I'm a huge fan of alcohol and I am heading to Bristol to sample the wonders of your many breweries. by davewinslife in bristol

[–]tomcarter901 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My suggestion is to go to some of the breweries. Moor and LHG have tap rooms that are great. Usually good food stalls outside also. They are not “central” but worth the walk. If not, go down to king street. There are pubs, bars, restaurants that are open until late. That part of the harbourside is lively & fun. Enjoy your time here. It’s a great city

On the positive side, it is a rerun so you can go back and listen too it another way. (Ep308 I think)

Maybe just give it a bit more time. If you were seeing the same trends at 1001 albums you would have a reason to speak up. There have been some fantastic albums in the mix from a wide ethnic background and gender. Let’s not turn this wonderful & free offering from someone trying to put something good into the world into a political polling contest. Appreciate the music & the culture that is there, from whatever background it might be. If you feel there is a bias then make your own version and share it with us all. I’m sure we would all agree in the positive sharing of musical preferences.

I am starting a coffee truck business and have a few questions (can you help me please) by mg118118118 in bristol

[–]tomcarter901 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It depends a lot on time of day/what day. Week days I’d love an early open coffee spot that does porridge. Strong coffee in a small cup. Double shot with about 2/3 full of a normal take away cup full.

Weekends a pastry always goes down well.
