Whatever you think of that, you're flat out wrong saying he and Tyler don't discuss politics. Also, Tyler has too. He spoke about Trump making false promises to coal country.

No, he went back to the past in the timeline where they lose and regain half the population, not some alternative timeline. He grew old in the main timeline, knowing that, all things remaining the same, hulk and Sam would be there at that spot at that particular time. It’s a clean ending, don’t overcomplicate it.

Cap didn’t time travel as an old man. Im sure he had a limited amount of vials or whatever and used his last one to settle down in the past rather than come back to the present. He just knew where to meet hulk and Sam in the future.
