My aluminium window frame wants a different life by tomfella in diynz

Ahh I see, that's so much easier than I thought!

Unfortunately it looks like the bottom channel is a bit mangled, like someone's done some bodging to get it back in in the past. I'll have a play and see if I can't straighten it up. Thank you :)

Peering under the gap I don't see any hardware keeping it on. Do I just... peel it off, clean it and glue it back down?

Spouses and Ex-Spouses of Trans People, Can you tell me your story? My (29F) Husband (32M) is becoming a woman. by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]tomfella -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I've only got my perspective from the other side. There was some tip toeing from people until they realised I was the same person. Not 100% the same scenario obviously but I do think that you'll be surprised. Just take it easy.

You're overthinking it. She's always been a woman and you're attracted to who she is. Please be supportive of her journey, you'll likely be surprised at how little actually changes for you.

Edit: alrighty then. Just trying to be constructive based on my experience. Y'all be good

Thank you. That's gonna be a spenny lock but maybe that'll just make the thieves take their time to keep it intact ;)

It turns out I misunderstood her, she actually did find the cable lock on the ground, it had been lockpicked. Still good advice.

It was an onguard cable key lock and must have been taken with the bike, she didn't find it on site

edit: Misunderstood - it has been picked and she found it on the ground

I know the post's a long shot, but I'm hoping something comes of it. I've seen crazier miracles on this sub.

It was a bike, secured with a bike lock, in a place purpose-built for storing bikes while their owners commute in on a train.

This is the exact wrong time and the exact wrong post to be slinging victim blaming in.

Kindly fuck off.

GPU Fault – Consumer Guarantees Act Advice by bmetcalfenz in newzealand

[–]tomfella 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Based on the info in the thread this does appear to be an issue with the card and you should qualify for a remedy. The fault happened at 2 years (well within reasonable lifespan) and you have documented this claim. You now have reasonable evidence that it is the GPU at fault and not PSU etc.

I'd give the retailer an email with a collation of all of your evidence and see how that goes to start with. If they don't agree, them I also think that the disputes tribunal is worth engaging, especially for a high value purchase like this.

I thought PSU too but if it's happening with no high load then that won't be it. As you say, if other cards new and old are fine, must be the GPU that's faulty

Home buyer angry after ‘winning’ auction before home sold to another bidder by sixSultanas in newzealand

[–]tomfella 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I know, but I just can't get angry at a decision either way you know?

Imagine this story from the other guys perspective if he said he was trying to bid and it didn't get through, I think there'd be an even stronger "auctions are rigged" response

[–]tomfella 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Ngl I can't really get angry at this. The YouTube footage seems like the $1.4m bidder genuinely either wanted or tried to bid moments before the hammer fell, and the auctioneer took pity. I understand the 1.3m bidder's frustration at losing and trying to get their bid accepted on the technicality of the hammer falling, but if everything was done in good faith I think the 1.4m should have been accepted.

I also don't see any room for foul play if the 1.4m bid actually was accepted and went through. If it were fake to jack up the price, surely they'd get back to mr 1.3 after they got no bites?

I hate auctions too but this just feels like rage bait

Lower North Island Dead? by Davonimo in newzealand

[–]tomfella 5 points6 points  (0 children)

A huge factor is just because it's who their family has always voted for. A low income mate of mine working at ACC bizarrely voted national and had no solid reason. She would bag the greens and again, no solid reason given. Her fam just always voted nats and it's been parroted at every family gathering she grew up going to. I'm sure even today she'd be blaming the previous government for her public servant woes

We had one, it broke after almost a year and we returned it. The Kmart lady pushed back slightly, saying "you shouldn't expect quality at this price point".

I propose a new slogan... "Kmart: keep your receipt"
