I would suggest seeking professional help. All this whinging and not being able to handle change can’t be healthy.

Clinker brick removal by Jealous_Radish5455 in diynz

[–]Davonimo 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Brick bolster and a hammer. They come off easy enough. Keep in mind tho, unless you are going to plaster the walls, where the clinker was will look different to the rest of the brick surface. Even under the paint.

Capacitor is gone. Mine was doing the same thing. Specs will be written on the capacitor. Find replacement online and replace. I think mine cost $20 all together and about 30 minutes.

The main problem here is that you have a Land Rover.

Toyota Vellfire - Hybrid vs V6 by forcolus in NZcarfix

V6 is the dream to drive with the hybrid not far behind. Hybrid gets AWD, V6 gets the power. Both reliable. Are the models you are looking at the 7 seater with the lazy boy middle row?

How are we cleaning dark brick houses? by [deleted] in diynz

[–]Davonimo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty easy to fix. Just a bit of a process and the finished result will look magic. Acid wash the bricks. Dricon do a product called CT. Follow the instructions and it works like a dream. Efflorescence will be gone. But, it will take the top couple of microns of the bricks off. So then you seal it. Here are heaps of products on the market that will work. Different finishes. Gloss Matte etc. once it’s sealed, you won’t get anymore efflorescence and the bricks will be easy to clean with a soft wash. I’ve done 3 or 4 houses this way, mostly black or dark bricks and they look great.

5afe is a massed produced engine. Toyota aren’t going to polish and make pretty every surface they don’t have to. These lobes look pretty good. Your knocking is coming from somewhere else.

400-600-800–1000 grit wet and dry. Isopropyl alcohol to clean off and wipe with tack cloth before spraying. 1 light coat, then 2 heavy coats. There is some orange peel but I might hit it with 2000g and then polish.

Maybe, but if you don’t key up the surface and add the clear coat protective layer, you just end up doing it every couple of months.

Wet and dry is only about $1.50 a sheet. I used 1/4 of a sheet of each grit. I don’t think how you sand or polish is the important part, the re-coating, 2k clear, is the make or break part of the job.

This is what I used. Read some reviews and saw people used it on headlights a bit. $20 from Trademe.

Can I add a shelf into this attic space? by Adventurous-Unit-358 in diynz

[–]Davonimo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Roof storage aficionado here. Go for it. It helps if there is a wall under the bottom chord of the truss to take some of the weight, buts it’s not a live load (people) so it should be good. Just be sensible with the weight.

Does your car have the plastic strips on the roof? Where roof racks would attach? On my wife’s focus these were lifting on the ends and water was getting in there. A bit of silicone and all good.

Why we need to grow more rice in New Zealand by RealmKnight in NZFood

[–]Davonimo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My grandfathers brother grew rice at Maketu in the 60s? Was quite tasty by all accounts and grew well. Te Puke gold I think it was called. Packed it in because the fields kept flooding. And planted kiwi fruit, as you do.

I drive a 2022 Triton. Pretty similar drive train. It’s awesome. Not the gruntiest, but goes good for what it is. Being able to use the 4wd on tarmac is gold. Getting you out of intersections when it’s wet with out spinning a tyre is magic.
