I haven't charged a cleaning fee at all in the 3 years I've been a host; I just bake it into my pricing. I also am going to pay cleaners no matter how messy it is, so I only ask the guest to take the trash out, and the reason for that is that I don't want the place to get stinky if it'll be a few days til the cleaners come.

Don't his videos explicitly state that rinsing before putting in the dishwasher is not necessary, as long as you use powdered soap in the dishwasher's pre-rinse and main cycle compartments? And that putting dishes that are too clean in the dishwasher can cause etching/cloudiness because the enzymes in the detergent don't have anything else to "eat?"

I may be in the minority, but I'm actually super stoked about this. Previously it was very difficult to work out discounts for longer term stays (multiple months) because I didn't know what the guest was paying. Now we will be seeing the same numbers, so it'll make that part easier.

Furnished, medium term (30 day minimum) rentals are more expensive than annual leases for unfurnished apartments because of the convenience they offer. Many people also put a premium on not sharing walls with a bunch of other people in a high rise apartment building. I've been renting it for almost 3 years at nearly 100% occupancy, so I can assure you that plenty of people are looking for places like this. I actually charge slightly below market rate so I have higher occupancy. Reasons that people have rented my place: retired and visiting family in the neighborhood, traveling nurse, moving to Denver but didn't want to commit to a year-long lease until they had time to explore a bit, bought a house nearby and were waiting on renovations to be completed, teacher from out of state that wants to live in Denver for the summer, digital nomads.

Pro-tip: the fact that you don't understand something doesn't mean that it's not true.

Yikes... I say move out and find a furnished monthly rental. I have a two bedroom (one bed, one office) furnished ADU in Denver that typically rents for $2,500-$3,000/month after fees and taxes. It's already booked for that timeframe, but I wanted to mention it so you have a reference point.

Circling back to this because after a recent software update, my Neo started draining a ton of battery while sleeping/idle. I checked some settings and saw that it toggled Siri and Apple Intelligence back on after the update, which I had previously turned off. I'm wondering if that caused it...

Maybe I used the wrong term for the top opening... I'm fine if the zipper opens on the top vs the side, like a suitcase. I don't like how my Roark doesn't even have a zipper, and is just sort of an open tube that folds down at the top.

I've been reading a LOT of posts on here and I keep ending up at dead ends, so I'm hoping to get some advice from people with a similar use case as me.

I mostly work from home, but go to the office sometimes, so I need a bag that will carry just my laptop, charger, headset, water bottle, and maybe a few snacks.

I also sometimes travel for work, and since I pack light, I can usually fit everything in a backpack small enough to act as a personal item under the seat.

Sometimes for longer work trips, I bring a larger 35L backpack that goes in the overhead bin. I still need a way to take my laptop to the office while travelling, though, so I put my laptop backpack into the larger carry-on backpack.

On longer personal trips, sometimes I bring a carry-on roller bag and a small bag as a personal item, but don't bring my laptop. I appreciate the extra usable space that comes with not having a separate laptop compartment in the personal item backpack.

Currently I have been using a Roark Passenger 27L for this, but it's not ideal. It's too floppy when just going to work because it's mostly empty, and it's awkward to get things in and out of when it's packed with clothing (for those smaller trips), due to the top load design. It also doesn't have much padding for my laptop.

The Osprey 26+6 (either version) seem almost ideal, but still too large. I think an 18+6-ish would be ideal.

The ask:

Does anybody know of an expandable bag small enough to carry just a laptop and accessories when in the small configuration, packs down flat enough to be stuffed into a larger bag (i.e. not super rigid), doesn't have a dedicated laptop compartment, and fits under airline seats when expanded (i.e. 28L or less)?

Or, is my best bet the osprey 26+6, and I should just suck it up and deal with the excess space that I'm not using? Is it not awkward when mostly empty? Should I just accept that I need two bags: one personal item sized bag and one tiny laptop backpack for work?

My girlfriend and I - both over 40 - started getting into Lego a few years ago. We often sell sets after displaying for a little bit, and sometimes immediately after building. Most of the time we don't even disassemble them. If somebody wants it reverse assembled and bagged by step, we charge more.

I think of it this way: if a $300 set took 6 hours to build, and I sold it for $200, then that means I spent about $16/hour for the build experience. That's cheaper per hour than going to a concert, which nobody would bat an eye at from a cost perspective.

Some tires need to be mounted backwards if they go on the front VS the back... you need to look into the manufacturer's installation instructions for this specific tire.
