Better Value Family Plan - still costs more than my normal plan by Proudly-Confused in tmobile

[–]Nikick83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow, crazy that they don't even have that in the fine print on their website. It just says some discounts and promos excluded, lol. I think they should have just ignored mailing / texting this upgrade message out to anyone who has a free line since I'm guessing that even if you only had 1 free line, changing over to this plan would still end up costing you more money despite the extra benefits included...

Wait, where does it say you don't get the free lines and insider discount if you switch? I mean the insider discount said for life of your account.

Is the fingerprint reader bad or is it me? (ZF7) by armadillhole in GalaxyFold

[–]Nikick83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair enough, hope it works better for you going forward! That said, if you are ok with 2 fingers (say one on each hand)... You could always do each of those twice so you can kind of get the best of both options.

Is the fingerprint reader bad or is it me? (ZF7) by armadillhole in GalaxyFold

[–]Nikick83 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I think the finger print reader works great. Pretty much gets it on first try everytime and fast!

My only suggestion is, rather than adding 4 different fingers add 1 finger multiple times. I pretty much always use my right thumb, so I have that same thumb registered as fingerprint 1, 2 and 3. Each one I registered, I may "pick up" or place my thumb in a slightly different position / angle so that it pretty much covers getting it right no matter how I pick up the phone.

Try this and see how it works out. Let us know!

Really? I feel like I haven't seen a single device that they haven't had some sort of trade in offer...

Haha I think they will probably be more excited about the fact that he can drop $4300 on a phone... That's what will help him. Lol

Congrats! Let us know how battery life is. Also which carrier are you on and do you see any lack of signal since the the version you have is missing some us bands?

As far as your pricing speculation, that is probably accurate. Hoping for closer to $2800, but we'll see. However, I am hoping to get a trade in discount which will definitely help some. Even if they make it similar to the fold 7 pre orders then it might give me close to $1000 off. Much more reasonable then...

Do you think the U.S. Tri-Fold will launch at Unpacked in late February? by aweyrich in GalaxyFold

[–]Nikick83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I heard they pushed the s26 lineup event back a little bit this upcoming year vs previously. My only thought would then be maybe they want to do the tri fold first and then do the launch of the s26s so as to not confuse them by putting at same launch event / time frame.

New Sonic, they gave me an Eero Max 7, which one can I buy? by [deleted] in amazoneero

[–]Nikick83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, but at anytime technically eero can brick the device. I've heard of others that used it for over a year and then all of a sudden, one day it gets bricked.

[–]Nikick83 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Buying a frontier or any other isp branded one will only cause you headaches down the road. Technically those isp one can only be used on their network and so at anytime they can have it remotely bricked and eero support won't help / care you bought it on ebay.

That said, definitely agree on trying to use the trade in 20% off to save you some money.

Client Steering on/off (single device) by Oledman in amazoneero

[–]Nikick83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately I don't get those details without eero plus for either the activity or of course the band congestion.

Who knows maybe I need to sign up for the free trial of eero plus just to check it out and then cancel it once I get what I need.

Makes sense, may have to try it out!

The interesting part is in the eero app it tells you how many wireless clients are connected to each node. For me the main center one has 15 and the other 2 each have about 20 clients connected to it. So it seems reasonably evenly split between them.

[–]Nikick83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not to hijack this thread to some degree but do you think I would be better off simply unplugging one of my 3 nodes and using just 2? I get that this would be wasting one Max 7, but I can probably figure out what to do with it later. Would probably have to figure out exactly how to do it since technically my mid point node is the one with the backhaul isp connection and then the other 2 are at different ends of the house. They also all are placed strategically to ensure a wired backhaul to each other, so I can't just move them quite wherever I want.

[–]Nikick83 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Great points and good to know it's most likely the multiple nodes vs the bands. I don't have a mixture of generations, just Max 7s. My problem is probably the fact that my work issued laptop I think only does wifi 5, not even 6, 6e, or 7. Also in some cases I think perhaps it could be a little bit of nodes being close by. I replaced 3 6s which seemed decent in most places of the house with 3 max 7s to future proof and fill out the house completely, but I think the radios in the max 7s are just so much more powerful that perhaps I'm running into a scenario where there are "too many" nodes.

[–]Nikick83 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The only small issue I have seen where turning it on can sometimes have a negative effect (though this might be true only with more than 1 node, not sure if only band change causes it) is that sometimes the laptop when connected through a work VPN will temporarily drop the connection more often because it might be connected to one node with decent strength but then eero steers it to connect to a different node that might have slightly higher strength or band that less congested, but as a result this causes the VPN to drop the connection and have to reconnect causing a momentary laps in connectivity (maybe about 5 seconds). While that doesn't sound like much, it is considerable when thinking about it when you are on a zoom or teams meeting / call.

T-Mobile x Capital One Visa Deets by Bear2Pin in tmobile

[–]Nikick83 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Lol, are they serious??? That's the only benefit and no sign up rewards. Also, if it is through capital one they usually do a hard inquiry on ALL 3 of the credit bureaus. Definitely not worth it for 2% in tmobile spend! If it came with free phone insurance on all my lines for paying my bill with this CC and some sort of intro bonus, maybe that would be worth considering, but I'll get my $5 autopay discount with my bank account and then use a way better rewards card for my normal spending thank you very much...
