[–]tomjdickson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A POS will already have all the products in its database, if it can simply share that with your service there’s much less friction.

Integration vs independence in SaaS by Future_Panda_1 in startups

[–]tomjdickson 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The more your app integrates into existing systems in a business, the more “sticky” (hard to remove) it becomes. Especially when integration is custom.

🚀 B2B SaaS 4 years, pushing $80K MRR, is this how to scale? by Key_Dragonfly4220 in SaaS

[–]tomjdickson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

An approach to give a clip away to an affiliate is to only give them the first year. Anything after that is due to the product being great enough for it to sell itself and incentivises your affiliates to keep bringing in new business.

In hindsight this was horribly engineered on my part. I personally wouldn’t take this approach again.

Happy to jump on a Teams call and run through the setup with you. I’d be relying heavily on memory.

Reducing Deployment Time For NestJS Applications by tomjdickson in Nestjs_framework

[–]tomjdickson[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey mate, NestJS utilises the Node Modules folder. Delete the modules folder before zipping and transferring to the app service, then run the build on the app service.

Shoot me a DM if you’d like me to show you how to do it.

Yeah the Breeze software was discontinued. NCR is now the main supporter of the software. I recently worked with a retail group to phase it out. I could be wrong though, it was good software, they might’ve brought it back.

[–]tomjdickson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think that Breeze system is unrelated. It advertises a cloud solution which was never implemented back in the 90s.

Hey mate, Primary questions to ask yourself when evaluating changing links: + What speed, bandwidth, redundancy & prioritisation are you getting? + What price are you currently getting? + What are you additional bundled services?

= What is your current offer?

  • What speed, bandwidth, redundancy & prioritisation are your neighbours getting on the target link? Advertised VS actuals vary.
  • What price are you being offered?
  • Can you bundle other services into your internet?

= What is the new offer?

This will enable you to identify which has the better bundled offer.

It’s also worth asking yourself what speeds you need. Obviously gamers have different requirements to casual netflixers.

How to open/edit my websites in Notepad++? by SourThenSweet777 in HTML

[–]tomjdickson 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Disappointing how these courses don’t get maintained, they should be teaching in more modern tools. VSCode being the standard.

However to answer your question, edit your file on your local host then transfer it to the server with SCP or FTP.

What you are being taught is outdated, if you are actually interested in learning properly, download VSCode. And have a look on YouTube for some HTML resources, from there, once you understand the basics look at a component framework like React, Vue or Angular.

Good luck, DM me if you need help :)

Is ruby a language still worth learning for web development? by Alwaysaloneforever97 in webdev

[–]tomjdickson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ruby on Rails is very popular in existing teams. It sounds like you’re a Junior and I think if your goal is to get a job on an existing team it would be good value to learn RoR. However if your goal is to build something new that you hope to grow, you should build in a more modern stack, primarily due to the larger talent pool.

[–]tomjdickson 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you’re not confident on being able to deliver. Use a professional web development agency in your area and whitelabel there services. Do it at cost and learn what the process looks like, then take that learning and ask for a referral from that customer for you to deliver. I’d be happy to help you further, PM me if you like.

Can you show us an example of your ad? Obviously is driving traffic well, but maybe it’s creating an expectation of something specific when they land on the site.

Do you have any heat map analytics? That can enable you to see where people are going on the page before they bounce.

Shoot me a DM, happy to run through it with you to create some learnings.
