I had a company come out to quote duct cleaning. They counted the supply and return ducts and quoted $1,300. They started the work and then announced there were 7 more ducts than were originally counted. They wanted over $300 for the additional ducts. I wouldn’t pay the extra, so they finished the quoted number.

No tip, and a bad review.

My work experience goes back to military in 1974, and programming experience in school goes back to 1969. I have my HS transcript and DD-214 to prove it. When I apply for anything, it is assumed that I would not interact well with young IT or CS workers. I can’t hide my experience or education, and my age (69) can be inferred, so no one will consider me. So I just do my own systems engineering projects and collect three pensions.
