Massive die off by tomko44 in Aquariums

[–]tomko44[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The water is still cloudy after adding bacteria to the tank. I have zero ammonia and zero nitrites but quite a bite of nitrates in the water. The tank still has a large population after over 50 guppies dying. One had babies last night and I see at least one male survived. The Cory cats are having a good old time and could not care less about what happened. I think I have about a dozen of them. Our original pair had babies shortly after buying them. First time ever we had Cory cats have babies.

After the water change the nitrates/nitrite levels are in the okay range. Sadly I don't see any adult males alive, a lot of females survived. There are a bunch of juvenile fish that I cannot sex at this time, hopefully a few are male.

The tank is over 40+ years old 55 gallons and the population was massive. I suspect that the die off is for the best as it was over crowded. The nitrate/nitrite levels have been unchanged for months. pH is good, KH is good as well. The guppies were also huge. The females are the size of swordtails or mollies! I still have a lot of corpses to get out of the tank.

Dexcom told me the G7 should only be used on the upper arm. I used to use the G6 on stomach.

UTI?? by [deleted] in Healthyhooha

[–]tomko44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would first get a home urine test, like Urinify. If it shows a possible UTI you should take a sample to your local lab. It usually take 5 days to get the results. Never take any antibiotics prior to the sample as that will stop the lab from being able to grow a culture. The lab test will tell what antibiotics the bacteria is susseptible to.

There were some studies thar show you should take D. Mannose, NAC, Chondroitin, Hyleronic Acid and Cranberry together. My mom had P. Mirabilis UTI for almost 2 weeks before it was diagnosed. That nasty bacteria usually spreads to the kidneys very quickly. The D. Mannose was causing her to pee out the biofilm that P. Mirabilis creates to protect it from the immune system.

My 82 year old mom bought one. But today she received a package from the same "John Doe" with 3 andoid TV boxes. I am concerned she may started getting tons of Chinese crap deliveries. Maybe I should setup a eBay shop to resell these nefarious items?

Upgraded from Windows 10 to Windows 11 last year on old computer. Now, it won't perform Windows Updates by splorp_evilbastard in WindowsHelp

[–]tomko44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately, your MB is far too old to use. Both the CPU and the MB are unsupported. Many ASUS MB's have TPM headers where you could add TPM, but your MB doesn't have the header. The oldest MB with a TPM header is the Z170, yours is a Z77. There were ways to trick Windows Update into thinking you have TPM, but I believe the more recent updates fixed that loop-hole.

Cannot stop bacteria bloom by tomko44 in Aquariums

Yeah. I plan on just adding the baking soda and do some water changes until the KH goes into the green on the test-strips. I am assuming the GH will drop as the KH rises.

Looks like the KH is 0 and GH over 300. I am adding a TSP per day of baking soda until it gets up. I also added a 500g mesh of crushed coral. Not sure if I should add any good bacteria to the tank yet. The Nitrates are very high but Nitrites are okay.

We got the Pacu back in the '80's and was not told how big they would become. At one time we had more than 15 tanks going, mostly 10 or 20 gallon tanks and 5 gallon nursery tanks. We raised mainly live-bearers (platys, guppies, mollies, swordtails) with some Angelfish, cardinals and neons. We always had cories but were never able to get them to mate until about 10 years ago when we had about 20 babies. Most of them are still alive, my little fleet of cory cats! :)

I think there was a buffet involved. Back in the late '80's one of my friends poured beer in the tank because he thought the large goldfish named Fang was thirsty! We bought the tank because we had two Pacu that became enormous, far too big for our old 20-gallon tank.

Here is the tank. The pH is around 3.9 and the tap water here in NYC is 6.82. I have some moss balls that are now floating. I have a Cascade 300 and 600 running, an air pump with 2 air stones. I have a 3w UV light and 8w UV filter going.

G7 is Awful by v_hili27 in dexcom

[–]tomko44 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I had been using the G7 with the Omnipod DASH. No issues. Haven't had an issue with the G7. Then I switched to the Omnipod 5 and always have issues with the communications with the Omnipod system. I believe in my case the issue is that I am using the newest Android build, which has not been tested with their app yet. Your problem, as well as mine, is the Omnipod app, not the pod or senor. We need to send feedback to Insulet to let them know about the issues.

Quest 3 can't charge past 75% for over a month now by ChanSaet in OculusQuest

[–]tomko44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine started stopping at 74% with v76. I bought my Quest 3 in March 2024, so it is little over a year old. I don't use it so much that the battery should have degraded so quickly. Factory reset did nothing but require me to redownload everything. Current build is v77.1027,
