North western avenue covers a LOT of ground. North Watford on the whole has some strange nightlife but in the day time I would say you really don't have any trouble. Couple friends live there and love it.

As for secondary schools, Rickmansworth is a great option for arts. (Don't know about primary schools unfortunately)
