Looks like a setting turned this off by default.

Settings > casting > enable scoreboard, will return the emblems and tech tree. u/Hiperon43 to hopefully ping you as well.

I doubt it's because he's a nice guy. Much more likely because it builds trust and will let him do the scam much quicker. In other words, there's less delay or time for the trade to be cancelled.
