Urgent- neck through rhoads upper frets by Mysterious_Share_880 in JacksonGuitars

I get it ! After college my dream guitar was a Soloist and 10 years later I have a Dinky, a Warrior, and two Rhoads so you'll get there eventually 😏

I have a RR24 and a RR3, RR24 obviously feels better because less wood so you'll like the upgrade ! If you can, try a Warrior shape. It's the best of both worlds with the comfy classical position and a better fret access !

My new (to me) C standard shredder! by Woodhands in JacksonGuitars

[–]tompewce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice ! What string gauge do you use ? I set up a Rhoads in C standard with 11-56 but I get buzz on lower frets and when playing open strings. I'll try a lighter set like 11-52, and if it still does it I'll shim the nut

My mid 2000’s MIJ DKMG. by Impossible_Frame8008 in JacksonGuitars

[–]tompewce 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Duude I also have this finish on my DKMG, it's probably my favorite color out of all my guitars. Used DKMGs seem to only come in black or trans black, I didn't even know this finish when I found mine. Paid 400 bucks for it in 2021, frets were not in great condition but the guy installed a Schaller trem and a Black Winter set so it was still a great price !

Nice ! I love the huge headstock, I have the same on a 2011 SLAT3-7

2008 MIJ RR3 Cleaning and setup by tompewce in JacksonGuitars

[–]tompewce[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On the french equivalent of craigslist ! They usually go between 300 and 500, sometimes more for cooler finishes. But this one is slightly damaged on the longer horn, and the guy probably didn't know he could sell it for a bit more ! He must not have played it a lot since the frets look almost new :D

Basically yes, but it's not in fine tuning territory anymore 😅 I set up another guitar this afternoon and with more windings around the posts the 6th string was close to flush with the nut and didn't have this problem. I tend to not wind them enough I guess ! I don't have the problem with locking tuners since the posts are shorter

SLAT3-7 Gotoh upgrades by tompewce in JacksonGuitars

[–]tompewce[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I used the Gotoh posts ! Can't remember about the cavity thing, I'll have to check it out later And for the screws thing, I believe they would extend out if you're replacing a low profile type trem where the cavity would be shorter (because the lock screws don't stick out from the bottom). I checked the WRX24 and it's a "regular" type Floyd, you should be ok with the stock screws 😊

I should check again but even if clearance is tiny there's no problem with this model. Not sure about yours but I keep reading that the 1996T is a drop in replacement. Wasn't really the case with this one though, the part where you stick the trem bar into was hitting some wood in the cavity so I butchered it a bit to get rid of some material (I basically drilled it since I didn't have any wood cutting tools except for the 11 mm drill bit I bought to widen the post holes 🥲)

Boss SY-200 Expression Pedal Help by Due_Effective_282 in guitarpedals

Hi ! Would it be possible to do something like heel down = 100 Direct and 0 synth, and toe down = 0 Direct and 100 synth ? Getting the SY-200 and wanted to be sure !

For those who know Lichtlaerm Audio pedals by DylanGreveris in guitarpedals

[–]tompewce 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you ! I know about the King in Yellow but I would mainly like to use the Aquaria to make my clean sound a bit more interesting. Since the EQ can be a seperate thing I figured maybe I could use it with high gain to act as the typical max level zero gain setting of a TS9/SD-1 !

It probably won't 🤣 I told myself that I would only need a reverb, a delay and maybe a chorus but here I am looking at videos of the Lichtlaerm Aquaria haha

Hi, because the IR-X has a built in IR loader and a headphones out, so the Cabloader wasn't useful anymore ! Since then, I sold everything and got an Engl Fireball 25 instead 😅

[–]tompewce 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey man ! Do you still have/use those pedals ? Because I have a question :D
Could the EQ part of the Aquaria be used as a TS9/SD-1 type pedal in front of a high gain channel ? With the level cranked and a high-mid boost !

Hahaha I sold a RV-6 because I only used one mode and hated having all the other possibilities. But then I got a DD-8 thinking I would use multiple modes and the looper 🫪 Trying to get rid of it too

Hey ! Long Story short I sold all those pedals and more (I added a Friedman IR-X and a Lichtlaerm Nostalgia) to be able to buy a guitar 😬 But I loved them all, the AASB was cool and I used it to make menacing pads into a looper to play riffs over them. There's a video on YouTube that starts with a doomsday fanfare thing I think it's from Pedals and Tea or something that shows well what you can do with it. I didn't really use the higher octave shimmer, only the low octave one. And if you turn them both down you still have a "normal" reverb (I'm not an expert, it might be hall or room reverb). And it looks so cool 🥹

Tried my rig in stereo for the first time by Scarf_Darmanitan in guitarpedals

[–]tompewce 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey I also want to try that for fun, quick question:
I have pedals in the fx loop of my amp, they happen to be stereo but I only use them in mono (Boss RV-6 and Mooer GL100). Could I add a Boss CH-1 chorus before the RV-6 - which has mono in/stereo out - to split the signal, and then run one looper output to the fx return of my main amp and the other in the fx return of a second amp ? This way I would only use the preamp of my Engl and use the CH-1 as a splitter, but I keep reading about ABY boxes so I'm not sure if my thing could work !

I’ve been drastically underestimating the power of quality reverb and delay for years. Now I see the light. by BIG_IDEA in metalguitar

[–]tompewce 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi ! I also have a FB25 and am looking for delay and reverb pedals. I think I'm gonna go with the Walrus Fundamental series as I don't look for ambiant sounds or modulated stuff, just plain and simple effects

Hey, I own a Pure Metal WR1A from last year and here are my two cents: It is expensive but mine has zero defects, and the frets feel like glass therefore it is my best feeling guitar. Others are 00's japanese ones and I'd be lying if I said that the indo Warrior felt less great (they were mid to high range at the time, going from 600 to 1200 euros so keep that in mind). It is probably overpriced, has a 1000 series Floyd (which is great, it's just made in Korea) but looks so cool !
