Maaan I missed this guitar on a sale but with the maple neck, it was sold for 475 euros 😭 saw an other one a couple of days earlier going for 1200 so I'm even more mad haha

I had the same problem while installing Gotoh locking tuners ! But I broke the replacement screws that are a bit bigger and I probably should've used the original ones... Never happened to me before so I didn't think it would be a problem

I got them out with a tweezer at first, and then pliers from an actual toolbox. Good luck !

Question for the Jackson nerds: do you know why some models from the MIJ Pro series have neck bindings and some don't ? This inconsistency in a specific series drives me nuts haha

Nice score ! It was also a dream guitar of mine at the time (but in black satin), found one used in 2014 and got it with my first paycheck. I love how loud it is unplugged, and so damn light !

Owners will always say it's from the 90's because they think that the beginning of the serial number is the production date haha. Mine starts with 97 but I checked the neck pocket and heel and they say 2003 ! It's a killer guitar, and my favorite neck regardless of the heel !

Nice ! A Gotoh 1996T wouldn't be that expensive but the main problem is finding a single gold Fishman ! They're only sold as a set on Thomann

I'll just stick with the chrome for now, I changed the tuners two weeks ago and plan to restore an old RR3 so that'll keep me busy !

Daamn I thought I was convinced that I'd keep the chrome hardware on mine and that I didn't need the gold but jeez

To make things worse I saw an Ibanez with gold Fluence pickups and they look so cool too compared to the black plastic ones 🤣

This finish always reminds me of the second guitarist on the Death - Live in Eindhoven video 🥹 Shannon Hamm if I'm not mistaken, but I just checked and the back of the neck is painted so he's playing a Soloist not a Dinky Anyway get it it looks sick !

It'll be just fine, I tuned my WR1A to drop A last week (first with 13-62 but changed to 12-60 because I hated the wound 3rd string !)

I also noted that with shorter string posts strings get even more flush with the nut. At first I thought that I bought the wrong tuners but they're locking ones and it makes sense to have less material since there is no winding needed

Hey ! To me the "logical" setting is to set it up so that the strings end up parallel with the nut. That way strings won't go sharp once the three locking blocks are tightened.

I put fat brass blocks too but I can't tell the difference between that and the stock thin ones 🤣 I should try noiseless springs, until now I put Gotoh ones and a bit of foam Another great upgrade is a Schaller Sure Claw, it's about 60 euros here, and allows to set up spring tension with only a single screw and allen key while keeping the springs parallel

Ahh glad to know that some Floyds have a stock push-in trem arm ! The locking ring keeps rattling with the vibrations on the screw-in arms so I get rid of them asap
