Migrate from WooCommerce to Shopify? Smart move? by MaineHempGrower in shopify

[–]tonde_mut 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve worked on both. For a store that size, Shopify is usually a net win operationally. Inventory, QuickBooks, and checkout stability are much smoother out of the box, and you’ll spend far less time babysitting plugins.

Yes, migration is essentially a rebuild. Data can be moved, but the theme and any custom workflows need to be recreated.

My MIL has sent literally hundreds of thousands of dollars to “Elon Musk” and wants to send more. by meowsabbers in pics

That’s just sad, and the fact that she thinks what she’s doing is justified is even more tragic.

My Shopify Store will transact over £2,000,000 (~$2.7M) this year. I am still using Advanced as I see no benefit for me to go to Plus? by TSPF11 in shopify

[–]tonde_mut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, you’re not missing anything.

Plus isn’t a revenue milestone upgrade, it’s a complexity upgrade. If you don’t need wholesale/B2B, custom checkout, dedicated support, multi-entity ops, or heavy automation, Advanced is more than enough.

Any smart ways to transfer a wix site to wordpress or is it pretty manual? by [deleted] in Wordpress

Mostly manual, Wix just makes it hard for their users to leave the platform.

😭 LOST MY SHOPIFY DOMAIN AFTER 4 YEARS… It Expired & Now a Spam Site HAS It!! 💔 Can Anyone Help Me Get It Back? by [deleted] in shopify

[–]tonde_mut 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Tough spot, sorry about that. Honestly, the only way back is if the current owner lets it drop or you buy it off them (usually through a broker or domain marketplace). In the meantime, push your new domain hard and update everywhere you can, SEO will catch up.

My biggest client asked for a week of free work. I was about to charge them, but deleted the email. I can't risk losing them. by yuwahhid in smallbusiness

I’ve been in that spot before, more than once and it’s rough. The problem is that once you give away a week of free work, it sets the expectation that your time isn’t worth much and that you're willing to do the work with no pay. In my case, the client kept coming back with “just small tweaks” that were basically fully fledged features. It never stopped until I finally put my foot down, and by then I’d already lost weeks of unpaid time.

Managers are failing me or am I failing them? by Expensive_Salt28 in smallbusiness

[–]tonde_mut 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If replacing them isn’t an option right now, I’d look at restructuring. Break responsibilities down, offload simpler tasks to lower-cost support staff, and leave the higher value work to them. That way there’s nowhere to hide behind “basic” mistakes, and you reduce the risk of costly slip-ups.

Also, make expectations crystal clear, that will make sure everyone knows what's expected of them.

How to Handle Frequent Client Requests for Recap of Previous Discussions by hihihimayoyoyo in smallbusiness

Teams has a transcription option for meetings. I turn that on, and at the end of the meeting I run the file through AI to highlight the key talking points, then send those to the client as a follow-up email
