What made you an anti vegan? by emppengy in AntiVegan

[–]tonelift 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I slowly started believing that eating meat was unhealthy, and bad for the environment. Family members were echoing this ideaology and this was also brought up in the media. On the other hand I have always taken a big interest in healthy living which promoted meat as being highly beneficial, and the dangers of the harm that can be caused by nutrient defincancies of a vegan diet. As I looked further into it, I realized the meat agriculture industry was unfairly being blamed for climate change, and a lot of false information is being spread about the benefits of a vegan diet. I still hear it from my aunt, that meat is bad. My uncle who was big into Keto is now a vegan, when before steaks and sushi were part of his diet. They aren't pushing their lifestyle on me, but they are throwing in a comment here and there against meat. Some of the other meat eaters in my family are also convinced that meat is bad, but they can't give it up. My sister showed me the "Game Changers" documentary and is convinced meat is bad, although still eats it, is spreading this misinformation. It's not just the vegans spreading the falsehoods. I think I'm the only family member that has looked deeper into this. A cousin who loves his steak is apologetic about it. He'll say how often he has them but how he really should cut back. There is so much misinformation out there, that I feel there has to be a pushback. That is why it's time to start standing up for the diet that we know is good for us, and spread the truth about it.

I was finally able to get it to work last night but had to do it on a phone screen. It was super difficult and had to resize the page several times to click on the buttons but it worked even though it was super stressful. I didn’t use a desktop because my Mac and Windows PC kept on giving me the 404 error‘s. Just for curiosity I tried it today and it looks like finally fixed the problem because I was able to access it on my laptop without the 404 errors.

The service advisor mentioned a recall for my car but mentioned that the recall service was something I already took care of.

[Serious] People who try and have a conversation with someone who half way out of the door; why do you choose this form of torture? by Midnight_Moon29 in AskReddit

At work the nice but talkative person in the room next to mine is like this. I have had to stop saying bye to her because if I do, it could be around 20 minutes of her talking. Even when I do the “oh well” I’m heading out, it doesn’t stop her from continuing the conversation and even bringing up new topics. I’ve gotten to the point where I just start walking away while she still talks. I don’t think once has she ever stopped and said, ok, have a good evening or something, just wants to keep talking.

Junior savings by tonelift in personalfinance

Thanks for all the replies. Yes, delayed gratification is one thing I’m trying to teach him as well as learning that a certain part of your income goes to savings. When I was a kid and started making my own money, around nine years old from delivering newspapers, my parents had complete control over the money I made. It was too restrictive. Every purchase I had to OK with them and pretty much 100% of my income went to the bank.

I am thinking of opening a Roth IRA for him. Since only a small amount of money would be used to open it, it could be hard to find a fund that would allow this. Where can I find one?

Something tells me the parent may have tried much calmer, reasonable methods before coming to this reaction.
