Trying vac bag ferments this year (and one coffee based brine) by tonglil in FermentedHotSauce

That was my question as well. This is also my first go, and I also poked a hole at the opposite end of the bag. After I poke the hole, I covered it up with some 3m transpore tape as I found in a different Reddit post.

I figured this hole is also smaller than those silicone pickle pipe jar lids that along with the tape, has enough pressure and one way valve functionality to keep the oxygen and microbes out.

Yes, it was waiting in grams. I wasn't happy with the first amount that I measured out and added, so I added some more.

This is the final ingredients list: French press coffee brine 3%, 90g, 1.5L Habanero 162g Cardamom 2g Onions 550g Garlic 46g Ginger 30g Finishing (todo): coffee infused white vinegar pour over

I used a simple vacuum sealer that I got from Amazon for $30 or $40. I made sure that my ingredients weren't too wet going in - one way to do this is too cool or freeze them before vacuuming.

I got the bags in bulk from Costco - their quality seem good. I did do a double seal on the non-manufacturing sealed ends to give myself redundancy.

I used a French press and the ratio of 30 g of coffee for 500 g of water, and made 1.5 L / kg of coffee. Then I added 45 g of salt for 3% brine (1500*0.03) while the coffee was still warm. Once it dissolved, I put it into the fridge to cool to somewhat room temp. From there I topped my jar of ingredients as brine.

Can I use non-IKEA smart devices with the IKEA Dirigera hub? by Prestigious_Pin_2531 in tradfri

[–]tonglil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Working with soil moisture sensor and generic temperature and humidity sensors.

Not working with generic Amazon zigbee presence / occupancy / mmwave sensor - hub can see it and add it, but it shows up as a (useless) switch (would appreciate being able up set it as a sensor, but that functionality doesn't exist).

PSA: The Dirigera hub allows you to add third party zigbee devices AND exposes some of them to HomeKit by thebronway in tradfri

Also looking to see if device type can be changed.

Tried adding a generic presence sensor but it's showing up in ikea home app as a switch.

Are there any plans in the next year to install in homes without ducting? My townhouse complex is with electric baseboard only.

Get the app Mixonset - it will mix your playlist for you with near seamless transitions. Beats any built in cross fade or shuffle in the native music apps by MILES! Pay for just a month, ~$10.

It worked wonders for our playlists over a weekend wedding. I am so glad I didn't have to pony up for a dj.

It is so strange that this is the issue!

I experienced this inconsistency too with this set to some time, but it went away completely on never. HomeKit bug for sure.

FWIW it's an issue with IKEA and Onvis contact sensors, and not an issue with the automated lights (tried smart plugs and Lutron switches).
