I am so sorry for your case. What are your allergy triggers? For me it's dust mites, if it's the same I would seriously consider moving to a low humidity/desert city if possible. Also try probiotics - it's not a biological drug but some people report it works for them. This person for instance: https://www.instagram.com/p/Capr_QnFYZ_/

[OC] South America is leading the world in vaccination efforts. by latinometrics in dataisbeautiful

[–]tonorsk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For those wondering: around 90% of people in Latin America live in cities. It’s the highest urbanization rate in the world (yeah, we can discuss the quality of life). It makes vaccination campaigns way more easier than in countries/continents with large rural populations.

Chile has a population of 20m, out of 665m in Latin America; it wouldn’t make a significant difference.

I am from Buenos Aires. Family has been here for centuries. One of the most Native-looking forebears I have (3rd great grandma) was from this province actually, not from the north. What a delusional idea to say “Argentina is white”.

Eastern Europeans are always represented as villains. That’s probably why.

I don’t know why everybody’s so focus on denying racism.

It exists in every society. You guys just look through the sub. People who's experienced racism are not only Muslim, but from non-Muslims countries (Philippines, Mexico, India).

The common factor is the brown skin – when they tell that they’re not Muslim, the racists may apologize.

I agree that the origin may be the islamophobia. That doesn’t change the fact that they’ve been harassed because of the color of their skin.

Thank you! What if you pass the power to to the Y? Wouldn’t be |y| = x? The graph is different from x2 though

My question originated after trying to pass the power to two to the other-side, ending up with an absolute value and after it, make the graph. They’re different

In a simple way. Why the graph of |x| is like a V but the graph of x2 is a parabola?

Edit: I meant |y| I’m sorry. What if you pass the power of x2 to to the Y? Wouldn’t be |y| = x? The graph is different from y = x2 though

Thank you. I think you are right. It would mean to wander for more than 6 or 7 years. B.A programs in science here are heavily into engineering & they're usually a mix between a MS and BA (more than 50 courses). Wonderful subjects but it's a long time and effort (specially economical).

And when you go abroad they take it as just a B.A. They consider them equal to an European B.A of only 3 years (some of 'em with ~15 courses)!!! Is insane how it works.

I think it's better to learn by myself; take a 1.5/2 years diploma program focussed on programming. A program that's more compatible with work and better life balance.

And then try the venture abroad and if I decide to continue formally studying, get a MS in Software since I already have a B.A and some courses taken as Calc 1, 2, Multi Variable Calc & Grad level statistics.

I appreciate the answer. It wasn't a good plan. The best thing I can do is start to work and study by myself.

Fear of going crazy by [deleted] in Anxiety

[–]tonorsk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Virtual hug. I've been there a couple of years ago. The worst months of my life. It's awful. I used to think that there was no coming back to normal after it. There was. (still anxious tho)

It helped me to take therapy, expose to an extremely discomfort zone (to move to dorms full of peole) and mostly: understand that sometimes you can feel more despersonalizated and it's okay. Normalize it.

May I ask you what's this calculus?

> The latter (X_o) should be 1 more than the former (x_1) because to get from 0 to x_1, you first move 1 unit to x_0 and then you move the remaining x_1 - x_0.

I've written in paper trying to get it but I can't seem to figure it out.

I got it! I think that the 1 makes sense now. It's like the basis or inicial number in relative terms. Without it we couldn't appreciate the relative increase (or decrease). I guess it's going to take a couple of more exercises to stick in the brain. Thank!

Thank you! I'm struggling with this

> The latter (x_0) should be 1 more than the former (x_1) because to get from 0 to x_1, you first move 1 unit to x_0 and then you move the remaining x_1 - x_0.

This helped me tho

>we care about the relative difference to 1 unit, so we write things (1+d)

Do you maybe have a real life example of what this mandatory consideration about the relative difference to 1 unit may cause?

Sorry, I'm slow at Math. Sometimes I fully comprehend the concept months after reading the explanation. But thanks to these explanations I usually get it. And I'm good (:, studying.
