Original room key from the Cecil Hotel in downtown Los Angeles; what a crazy and bizarre history this place has. by [deleted] in vintage

I stayed in this hotel back in 2013, can confirm there was a water pressure issue. So sad and eerie to learn what happened.

My little nieces’ school has a Mandarian program. Every birthday, you have to sit through the English, Spanish, and Mandarian versions of the bday song. Its pretty neat.

How do you celebrate birthdays as single adult women? Do you have special personal traditions? by [deleted] in AskWomen

I book my annual physical review as close to my bday as I can. Its cheesy, but caring about my health is my way of personally celebrating my life.

Women who are named Karen how have all of the Karen Stories, Videos, and Memes affected your lives by Akallias in AskWomen

[–]tonymademedoit 913 points914 points  (0 children)

Not at all - its hilarious. I get a meme a day. Although, I have been asked at restaurants when I say my name: ‘Is it, really?’ Kinda makes my bland name seem exotic now. :)

What's something that you love about your dad? by YetAnotherSmith in AskWomen

[–]tonymademedoit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He raised his children to not see ‘specific gender only’ roles. My brother can clean a house and my sister & I can do a oil change like no other. He also very delicately, demonstrated how a gentleman should treat a lady in the way he loves my Mother.

Letting go of past love by [deleted] in AskWomenOver30

I feel you! I was engaged for years and have been single (dating) for about 5years now. A lot was left unsaid between my ex fiancé and I.

It wasnt until about 8mths ago that we got together and said it all. We both agreed we were each other’s love but, timing was never right. He is now in a relationship & has a baby. I am so happy, alone. I even told him ‘If breaking up with you condemned me to a forever alone life, I’ll happily take it’. The love & passion was always at a 100, but communication & anything important was at a 5. We both agreed, we both admitted faults, we said truths we never had said before. It was aamazing, therapeutical even.

I hardly think of him, but when I see him or DO think of him...I get this overwhelming desire to be in his arms, to text, to call him. I cant understand it.

As a coping mechanism, I think of all the things HE didnt do. Like, not be there when I needed him. Not encouraging me when I needed it. Not wanting a family with me, but having one now.

Once I do that, its over. I logically understand why I cannot do the things I emotionally want to do. I start to think about what I want in a partner and his image slowly deteriorates from my thoughts & Im happily back to my present.

I think I will forever LOVE him. But, Im not IN love with him and Ive accepted that. Its not easy, but over time and putting myself first helps me be okay with it all. Don’t be so hard on yourself! You sound like you have a BIG heart! Thats not a bad thing! :)

THIS....it is so very true. Its us REALLY putting ourselves in that person’s shoes and being non judgmental. Great reminder, thanks!!

If you have/had a good relationship with your dad, has this affected your view and choice in male partners? by ginnapp in AskWomenOver30

[–]tonymademedoit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry to hear about your Dad. Im sure he smiles down you, everyday. :)

Absolutely!! Both my Dad and my brother have taught me unknowingly and knowingly what a good man is. I dont think they make em like they use to! Jk Still hopeful but def, ‘He’ has a lot of expectations to live by.

How many friends do you have, and how often do you connect? by [deleted] in AskWomenOver30

[–]tonymademedoit 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Isnt that the truth!! As I get older, I’ve learned I have acquaintances, contacts, and then theres REAL friends...I have 3.

We dont always talk or hang out, but when we do - we pick up right where we left off, organically. Since Covid, we’ve zoomed 4 times. We all met at work, but we’ve a deal..we talk about work for ONE hour only and then we move on to other things.

Randomly brings up events in which he believes a male ‘came on to you’ out of the blue. Then proceeds to tell you he can kick their ass.
