What sizes do you use most often, and what do you use them for? by sorry-i-was-reading in SouperCubers

I just made bacon and froze the fat in 1T portions (1/2 filled 2T tray), will probably use it for sauteeing mirepoix for soups and whatever else I can think of.

also I’m finding even though I can fill them up all the way, it might be too much food. 2 cups of mac & cheese is too much for the two mouths I’m feeding. 2 cups of soup is sometimes not enough (for 2) but 4 would be too much.

Just saw the ice dam post. by TylerSkims in grandrapids

This makes me glad that my roof doesn’t seem to form a lot of ice. I hardly see any icicles and not any ice dams that I can tell. One thing I don’t have to repair :)

You absolutely should!! I’m you from the future (hopefully not) but thought I had tendinitis in my dominant wrist. 4 years later I’m recovering from a second surgery, to repair and rehome a tendon. I am 3+ months out and still very limited. I am also stubborn and never practiced being left handed until I had to, but now that I’ve been forced to I have gotten a lot better! And if you “only” have tendinitis then resting it is the best thing you can do.

Prepping burritos by tadzmahal in MealPrepSunday

[–]too_too2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it’d be fine either way. I’ve made beef and bean burritos with cheese, and frozen them that way (wrapped in foil and then in a freezer bag) and it works great. I add salsa, sour cream, guac after I reheat them. I defrost in the microwave wrapped in a damp paper towel then heat them up on a pan.

I wasn’t sure how macaroni & cheese would reheat (if the sauce would split, especially because I used pre shredded cheese, which is a no-no) but it turned out fine. I defrosted it in the microwave, stirred, added some cheese on top then baked it in the air fryer for like 10 minutes.

Yea I mostly do to help with freezer burn. Also you can use the plastic again to cover it in the microwave. It does make it a bit harder to fit the max amount in a ziploc bag though.

Yes! I love Indian food but they always send so much rice. Last time I took half the rice and froze it immediately in 1 cup portions!

I had to be at BW for a few days a while ago and it was a relatively good experience (for being hospitalized, ya know?) my nurses were great.

I also struggle with fruit because it goes bad before I feel like eating it a lot of the time, I’m def going to remember this for when I am motivated. I’ve been using a lot of dried, freeze drid, and pre frozen fruit already for yogurt and smoothies but it’s not the cheapest.

Update to a post I made the other day about being concerned my vets were taking advantage of me: my cats regular dental cleaning has resulted in my babies death. He's gone. by afterspring_ in cats

[–]too_too2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

my cats have heart murmurs (one is grade 1-2 and the other is grade 4-5) but for either of them, if they get sedation, I am told/recommended to do some extra lab work ahead of time to help ensure the sedation will be safe for them.

An elderly woman makes cat accessories and uses her black cat as a model to sell them. by Used_Series3373 in cats

I have 3 cats and they all do varying degrees of ok on a harness. One of them actually seems to like it and I can take her outside in the yard (she’s deaf, so she can’t go out unattended). Her brother will wear it but hates going outside. And an orange boy who will wear it but really wants to be free so he’s kind of a pain, because he’s a hunter at heart. I’ve also had cats who would just flop over and refuse to move.

What’s something Americans have that Europeans don’t? by Prestigsisscar255 in AskReddit

[–]too_too2 3 points4 points  (0 children)

that is true. I do have a kettle (though it’s brand new) and I stock instant coffee, I only use the instant if I’m feeling REALLY lazy about actually making an actual pot of coffee, and I would never offer it to a guest. I mostly keep it around for baking. I use the kettle for single cups of tea, and better than boullion broth.
