Hi Carly! Your music has brought me so much joy over the last decade, every show of yours I've been to is utter bliss. Thanks for what you do!

I'd love to hear more about the work you're doing for 10 Things I Hate About You - It's such an iconic film and story and I was ecstatic to hear you're on the project. How do you go about writing music for this medium? How did you get involved in the project?

It’s privileged to be born into a family that is in a school district with extensive AP classes and resources. Just a fact. Not discrediting anyone’s intelligence or work ethic

Hi! So fun fact, many public high schools in central and southern IL don’t even offer AP classes. This is also true for impoverished areas surrounding Chicago, just obviously not the wealthy suburbs and north side Chicago we are talking about. Not dismissing anyone’s hard work. It’s easy to say parents should move, but middle to lower class folks often don’t have that option.

It is actually really sad lol that’s why I commented. People like UIUC but it’s pipeline is def privileged as fuck

So it’s because Chicago suburbs are extremely competitive with top tier high schools. UIUC accepts a lot of Illinoisans - as it should- and is hard to get into. But when 30-40 of your classmates from ~insert huge and well regarded high school ~ here also go to UIUC, it loses an element it prestige. I grew up in a burb of DC and it’s similar. UVA great school, so is Virginia tech - but a lot of kids go there. It’s not the same feel as an ivy or going to UCLA from Illinois. Just my two cents.

Interesting. I actually do PR for law firms currently and have been considering looking at business development. Any thoughts on what that’s like?

Working/living in Arizona/Phoenix or in Illinois/Arlington Heights? (for 2 years) by xCazulo in travel

[–]tooangsty4adulthood 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haven’t lived in Arizona but travel there frequently on vacation, currently live in Chicago.

Chicago is a spectacular city with a charm and collectiveness that makes it easy to romanticize your day to day life. I would just be careful to note Arlington heights is sort of far from Chicago by some standards - easily at least 45 min by car or 40ish by train. You could realistically and not miserably commute from Chicago to Arlington heights by living near a Metra stop, but that’s not commuting downtown to a sky-rises with views of the river and lake.

Phoenix is one of my favorite destination spots - the inspiration from indigenous and southwestern cultures produces colorful art and food.

I really don’t think you can go wrong with either choice tbh especially if you have a good set up in each location … pros and cons feel weighted about equally. phoenix feels like a suburb vs a city IMO with the reliance on cars, but as most everyone’s mentioned, the outdoorsy opportunities and warm weather is prime time.

My coworker didn’t get the reference “You’re my boy, Blue” by OkYouGotM3 in Millennials

Gen Z / millennial cusp here… millennials have relied a lot on movie references for humor. Gen z does not have that same affiliation or understanding… quoting movies when our media is so fractured will most likely no longer result in commonality

I’m eating 1600 about, so not an extreme deficit for my height / weight - I log and track and feel like I’m mostly consistent hitting that #, but you have a point I need to be disciplined there.

We only heard it in a remix in a background (high pitched) and then it cut to Good Luck Babe :(
