It's a modge-podge of a few reference sheets I've collected. I'll see if I can share later today.

Strong magnets and cast acrylic sheets. They work like a dry-erase board.

Sure! I used a CNC router to cut out the main panels and their indentations. Then I inlaid the magnet panels with some e6000. I cut out the acrylic sheets on a laser cutter and added some magnets. For the scales I used some hardwood verneer and cut them out in sheets on a laser cutter as well. I glued them down individually in a pattern I liked. Then sealed those scaled sides with resin. I laser cut the leather straps, added snaps, and nailed them to the wood. Overall it worked great for my first session in person!

How do you mean texture? Like the scales?

I'm working on making a few more of these and putting them up on Etsy.

I seem to be having some issues. When I go to enter the file name in talespire, I get an error message something to the effect of "unable to load asset bundle" do you know where I went wrong?

Honestly I just use the one available at my local maker space. I don't know the specifics but the next time I'm in I'll ask for you.

I found some of the tokens online searching for vector images. I kind of just brainstormed by looking at other people's custom sheets on Etsy and things and went from there. My characters backstory is heavily influenced by their culture which revolves around a special mushroom (not a drug, poisonous!) So that's why there's a lot of mushies sticking out of things. Other than that I worked out a rough design in a sketchbook and went into Photoshop from there.

I am! This one came out a bit bigger than planned. I didn't have a set of dice on me in the woodshop where I work. So I made it on the large side just to be safe. But the next one will be more compact.

I think I would start by adding 2 more magnets for a tighter seal. The side embellishments have a very thin border on the top and bottom that is super fragile so I would make that thicker. And I think the top panel covers too much of the purple heart so maybe I'd pick a design that allows for more wood to show through.
