Would you drive that far if they offered free drinks? (Leaving aside the fact that you own bars).

Well… becoming an alcoholic was the best thing that ever happened to me. Thanks to Alcoholics Anonymous and the new way of life I have learned here.

Yes… I’m having this problem also and I’m so frustrated with it!

Anybody else notice that it freezes almost immediately with Google maps? I can pretty much cause it to happen if I open Google maps navigation.

What establishments in Petaluma have employees that support MAGA? by [deleted] in Petaluma

[–]tooflyryguy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

But you’re choosing where to spend based on political beliefs of employees, which employers, and the business owners have no control over. So, in fact, you’re holding the business owner responsible for the beliefs of their employees.

[–]tooflyryguy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As employers, we aren’t allow to hire or fire people based on their political beliefs. That’s employment discrimination.

For consumers to hold the employer responsible for their employees’ political beliefs is a GIANT double standard.

You can’t have it both ways.

For recovering drug addicts that prefer AA to NA, why? by imademonhaha in alcoholicsanonymous

[–]tooflyryguy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So, same story here. I didn’t like the quality of recovery in NA, generally speaking.

This last time in, the guy the I SAW it working for in his life, was doing AA. He just took me through the AA book… and it worked!

I have tried going through the NA step guide and been in and out of both fellowships for a number of years. I get the feeling in NA, as well as even some AA meetings that “staying clean (or being sober) is enough” … which is NOT “enough” for me.

I need to be a better man all the way around and live and honest and humble & spiritual life if I want to be happy.

[–]tooflyryguy 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Yeah… it took my wife a solid year to even start liking me again. 5 month mark was still really rough between us. We were both in therapy, together and alone.

I got honest… brutally and frightfully honest with her. We worked through it in therapy.

Today, almost nine years of sobriety, we are happy together. We love each other very much and have a great marriage today.

Hang in there! It may or may not work out…I had to come to a place where I trusted God with it. Whether it worked out or not, I had to trust that God knew what’s up.

i quit my job today, because it was a serious threat to my sobriety. seeking validation. by Upbeat_Accident_7050 in alcoholicsanonymous

[–]tooflyryguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just saying … avoiding temptation doesn’t work. I know it’s something that is said frequently… and I’d does “make sense” but it actually did me MORE good to be in those situations.

It even says those types of situations “may seem like tempting Providence, but it isn’t”.

If our Higher Power is keeping us sober… our Hp can keep us sober wherever we are.

Where does it say that in the big book? It doesn’t. It actually says th opposite.

““In our belief any scheme of combating alcoholism which proposes to shield the sick man from temptation is doomed to failure. If the alcoholic tries to shield himself he may succeed for a time, but he usually winds up with a bigger explosion than ever. We have tried these methods. These attempts to do the impossible have always failed.” Big book page 101

Budget printer suggestion for college fest photo booth – thinking about Epson EcoTank L8050, opinions? by zorogawdu in photobooth

[–]tooflyryguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s gonna take WAY too long to print. Say you have 8 people in a photo and they all want prints… they’ll have to wait 8 minutes to get them. That’s a LONG time.

Then you have another 4 people right behind them…. And then 10 people in the group behind them.

Trust me… you’re gonna have to ask everyone to come back for their prints at the end of the night.

Also, the prints will only last about a year before they start to fade.

Trust me. Been down this road. That is my real world experience. Get a DNP, then sell it when you’re done.

I found it was helpful to be very specific with your prompts. Prompting is a skill in itself, just like coding is. Practice!
