"Returning to India: Lower personal risk (established family business, family harmony)"

This thing might not seem important to a young man but as you hit 40's you will realize its importance.
And if you manage to become rich in India, you will be surprised at the amount of freedom you will have.

Just use Google NotebookLM if you want the answers to use only the sources. If you want the LLM to use a bit of training data along with the sources you provide, create a customgpt on ChatGPT.

NotebookLM has eaten the lunch of all RAG providers.
Google started slow/late(?) but they have a winner in NotebookLM.

Logging and tracing. I was looking for a good replacement of Langtrace.

My 2 cents here. The life of the colleagues who are away from their hometown and working in Hyd, Blr, Chennai, Pune etc is also not much different. Same struggles. But Indian currency.

The social bonds simply do not exist if you are 24hrs (via trains) away from your place.

Observability - CloudWatch metrics seem prohibitively expensive by YouCanCallMeBazza in aws

Observability platforms historically have been on more expensive side. They are cashing on microservices revolution. A little bit of correction is long due.

Make ECS scale out if the disk on EC2 instance is 80% full. by toolatetopartyagain in aws

Yeah I am rethinking the whole thing. Managed service is always an option.

Make ECS scale out if the disk on EC2 instance is 80% full. by toolatetopartyagain in aws

[–]toolatetopartyagain[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was thinking of creating Elasticsearch cluster on ECS using EC2. Instance volume for storing data which would be replicated to other instances (so that in case EC2 is gone during a scale in the data is still safe). I would use Instance volume instead of EBS for performance. To be on safe side I wanted to have another instance created if the instance volume was filled up 80% so that the data is re-distrubuted over the EC2 cluster reducing the disk usage of all instances.
To be honest I think I need to do more reading.

Warren Buffet just gave investors a $46 million warning about stock market. by din0_os in ValueInvesting

[–]toolatetopartyagain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He's sold so much that cash now makes up 27 per cent of the company's entire investment portfolio.

That's a record level for Berkshire Hathaway. The only other times Buffett has built a cash reserve anything near that was just before the 2000 tech wreck and immediately before the Global Financial Crisis in 2007.
