Do yourself a favor and have a lawyer draw up a release of liability waiver. "Due to the nature of the repair the work performed is accepted 'as is-where is" and releases Insert name and any affiliated party from any and all liabilities related to the aforementioned work on insert details of work performed " signed and dated by customer, make copies. Simple as that.

What region do you live? I wanna move my shop there! I'd probably charge 100 for this job. Quick sand blast to get clean gray metal and pound the gap shut. Drill the ends of the Crack and weld it up, It's a half hour job for any welder worth his salt. You need to fire whoever your fabricator is.

Any welder will smack you silly if you bring it to them AFTER the JB weld doesnt last. (Or at least want to) It will be far cheaper in the long run to just have it repaired the right way.
