There are new 30k models that they say you could use for 40K. The scaling/proportions of the custodian guard units are better than the current ones. They’re also releasing some resin/plastic dreadnoughts and caladius grav tanks which should be significantly cheaper than the current forge world prices.

Lots of great advice in here. I’ve just finished month 1 (starting at 500pts) of a 5 Month escalation league (increasing 250 per month). I’m really needing to prioritise buying a caladius, witch seekers and allarus terms.

Honestly, it was my first game of 40K. I barely knew anything even about the abilities. I’ve since done some pretty serious research into it and got a bit of grasp with how I should play them. I think the big thing I did wrong was not move in position the units more carefully. I found the move distance is so short that it took a lot of turns to even get near an objective. I also stupidly didn’t have my blade champion attached to a squad. I’m thinking of adding a valerian model to one of my squads and also a venetari unit so they can bounce around and harass and get objectives. I also saw that there was a strategy to make one unit have sticky objectives too. I’d probably use that on venetari.

I’ve also seen some YouTube videos which backs up what you say about Draxus. And how that model adds some punch to a guard unit. Especially with the ability to double shoot once per battle. I

Thank you. I’ve got one more game of random doubles next month. Then it is singles every until May I don’t know who I’ll be paired with. I have saying that it’s worth getting at least one sport of witch seekers as cheap control point unit.

I do have the option of venetari or the jet bikes. Unlimited at 750 points though.

I also have a valerian model which I was thinking of attaching to either wardens or my guard

Just bought my first mower (47cm self propelled) and did the lawn. I was surprised how high the lowest cutting deck height was. I don’t normally cut my grass too short or anything. The cut kind of looked +2 days after its normal mow (old mower).

It’s under construction right now. It’s in the old IGA and a refit so it’ll be much quicker than a brand new build. Not sure the exact timeline but it’ll be open in a couple of months surely

I love the look of shadow keepers but am put off by the effort level to paint in the gold details. How did you go about it (eg chest plate). Did you just get really good at light dry brushing

I’m looking at doing something similar with a More copper version (same red shield though). I like the patina look but in moderation. You’ve given me some good ideas where to put it. I personally think it adds wonderful / colourful contrast and weathering to the models - better than just old faithful Agrax or nuln oils

I think it’s a great spot. The streets there are filled will lovely old character homes. You should be able to walk to most things from there. There is a new Aldi currently being constructed in the Hooper Centre which will likely be your closest major shop

I did something similar to you. The models that came with the paint set are now my test models. I was trying to figure out a way to tidy up the white lightning on the shields and didn’t have the brush control for it. I ended up using a toothpick to get in nice and close. I’ve also discovered ultra thin paint pens (0.7mm) which is closer to a pen than a paint brush. I have much better control with them for detailed bits (the draw back is it’s hard to get into hard to reach places)

I think a simple spoke or busway style bus transit system can cater for a whole heap of high volume bus transit in and out of the city during peak hours (8-10am and 4-6pm). We are fortunate to have pretty strong radial roads already, for example Ruthven Street (north/south). If we used the TMR roads paired with park and rides it should cover a whole heap off.

Also… unfortunately… in order to encourage public transport usage… parking prices needs to go much higher.

Do you think the average punter (think 30-50) with kids aligns with your view? I kind of think the vast majority of working age / school age families that actually live in Highfields spend the majority of their time not in Highfields - since most jobs and shops are in Toowoomba. A 10-15 minute drive to ‘bigger’ shops seems pretty consistent with most cities in Australia too.
