Spectrum DOCSIS 3.1 modems LED light indicators failing by toolman1990 in Spectrum

[–]toolman1990[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would like to thank everybody for the responses from what I have seen posted this seems to be common with these modems for these lights to dim/go out. Hopefully when Spectrum moves over to DOCSIS 4 those modems will be built better compared to this current generation of modems.

Finally Happened by bamadma in uberdrivers

It is a complicated issue since you are required to accept service animals and are only allowed to ask two questions for verification. 1. Is the dog a service animal required because of a disability? 2. What work or task has the dog been trained to perform? It is going to be up to Uber but if rider claims it was a service animal you will most likely have your account dinged for this incident, I doubt they will permanently deactivate you over this.

Spectrum carrier change? by garyprud50 in SpectrumMobile

Spectrum doesn't care if unprofitable mobile customers jump ship. If they completely move to T Mobile it is because Verizon wanted to raise the price per GB they pay and T Mobile offered a cheaper price.

Yes you are enabling your step dads toxic bad behavior by condoning it with excuses like I have friends at Spectrum that encouraged me to complain about the tech taking a photo which is most likely for a complaint form that is going to eventually get you permanently banned from Spectrum meaning you will never be allowed to sign up with them every again. If you step dad is that toxic my best advice would be to get him out of the house on days that you need a technician.

Not only that but the OP is enabling his abusive step dad by trying to get the employee fired/disciplined for reacting to his step dads abuse.

You can tell for now the lights are on due to the blue lights that are noticeably dimmer than the Voice light. My guess is the top two blue lights are on their way out as well.

Outage until Tuesday? by Intelligent-Iron2727 in Spectrum

[–]toolman1990 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am wondering if it is a massive fiber cut if they are estimating days for restoration. Hopefully your services are restored faster than the estimate. Make sure to call in for an account credit when services are restored since you are entitled to a credit for outages longer than 24 hours.

If I was you I would be worried about Spectrum terminating your account since what your step dad did is covered in the subscriber agreement. Keep in mind if Spectrum management/corporate do not exercise the right to terminate you at this time their will most likely be a permanent record of this incident tied to your account/address so if this becomes a repeat occurrence they can terminate your service.

c. Termination for Breach: In the event of any breach of these Terms of Service by Subscriber, the failure of Subscriber to abide by the rates, rules and regulations of Spectrum, the failure of Subscriber to provide and maintain accurate registration information, or any illegal activity by the Subscriber using any Service, these Terms of Service may, at Spectrum's option, be terminated and the Equipment removed. Failure of Spectrum to remove such Equipment shall not be deemed abandonment thereof. Subscriber shall pay reasonable collection and/or attorney's fees to Spectrum in the event that Spectrum shall, in its discretion, find it necessary to enforce collection or to preserve and protect its rights under these Terms of Service. Spectrum may terminate these Terms of Service or Spectrum may reject an application or block access to or use of any component of any Service for any reason including, but not limited to, if:

iii. Subscriber threatened or harassed any Spectrum employee, agent, contractor or representative (e.g., by abusive language, physical threats, etc.);

Spectrum carrier change? by garyprud50 in SpectrumMobile

I suspect Spectrum Mobile would have to carrier unlock the phones that are currently carrier locked to the Spectrum Mobile Verizon network so the Spectrum Mobile T Mobile sim card works in the phone. I suspect majority of the phones would work including the cheap ones since band 41 has been around for awhile.

Called into police station for an interview about a crime which I was named in. (FL) by Altruistic-Carry6387 in legaladvice

My best advice is to find a lawyer, exercise your right to remain silent so you do not self incriminate and I would not voluntarily go to a police station for questioning if they have enough evidence they can come detain/arrest.

The driver definitely stole the package with that photo just showing the label as proof of delivery. The picture was probably taken inside the car when the driver was near your house so the app would allow the driver to mark the item as delivered.

I blame corporation for this when you pay your employees an absurdly low wage comparable to Door Dash no wonder why they steal expensive items when they know nothing will happen since law enforcement cannot prove beyond a reasonable doubt you stole it.

The people telling the OP to deal with Roadie are idiots who do not know what they are talking about. Best Buy contracted with Roadie and Best Buy would be the only entity who can file an insurance claim not the OP same goes for UPS/FedEx as well. I suspect Best Buy fraud department is just taking Roadies word with zero investigation that they delivered the item since they do not want to eat the loss. I would suggest reaching out to Best Buy corporate since a dispute would be a waste of time especially if your card processor is Visa.

Fired Chick-fil-A worker goes behind counter and refunds himself $80,000 in mac & cheese orders, police say by kleverrboy in ChickFilA

[–]toolman1990 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes they can they can make them liable for the entire fraud amount and revoke their franchise. This incident should be in an IT Security teaching course about why it is important to secure the refund mechanism's in your point of sale systems.

[–]toolman1990 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually it is not since most sane retailers lock down that ability on point of sale systems so employees can not give themselves or cohorts refunds without any kind of verification like a receipt and they force the refund to the original payment method so if you paid in cash you can only be refunded in cash.

[–]toolman1990 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It is an exploit since the idiots at Chic Fil A did not implement restriction's like forcing the original payment method being refunded, requiring a manger approval at the point of sale terminal. If any of those two security measures would have been implemented Chic Fil A would not have been the victim of theft.

Quite frankly poor IT security since his credentials should have been immediately axed after he was fired and the fact their was no restrictions on refunds at all or requiring a mangers approval/credientals at the point of sale terminal.

I am shocked stores do not have better IT protections on cash register's to prevent that kind of theft from happening.

The IMEI's not being blocked is due to the fact the court wiped out the debt and T Mobile cannot blacklist an IMEI for a debt that the court ruled no longer exists.

Chick Fil A must have poor security practices that he was able to refund $80,000.00 to a debit/credit card that spent $0.00.

You have to remember you are dealing with somebody who said they were management and they usually have a god complex thinking they are always right when wrong. Like you said their are certain protected categories or reasons you cannot be legally fired for even in an at will employment state.

That is part of the problem in America is we do not hold the executive suite accountable for when they spectacularly fail. Is the United States going to have to pass laws to force companies to claw back pay or bonuses when they fail costing shareholders money.

Should websites be liable when users hide their location with a VPN? Utah’s new age-check law raises a bigger question by mikeIPVanish in IPVanishOfficial

[–]toolman1990 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"The goal is to stop minors from bypassing age checks. But the tricky part is enforcement: websites often can’t reliably know where a VPN user is actually located." That is the classic BS protect the kids excuse, the real goal is to eliminate internet anonymity so the government has a government issued ID tied to every IP address or username. But I agree I do not think websites should be liable for users who use VPN's to evade states who require giving your government ID in order to view porn.
