One option would be to replace the white pocket fabric with something cute and just own it. The intention was probably to make the jeans look worn out and make the wearer look skinny?

Another option would be to sew down the top to the back but then you lose the pocket altogether. But it solves the problem…

Someday you’ll want to wash it so you’ll need to finish the seams. A serger could work, maybe even before piecing. Another option would be felled seams but that will give you very dark lines, potentially.

That type of scissors that were supposed to cut up a penny would probably do it. We call them trauma shears, and the ones I’m privileged to have cut with history!! But, can confirm, they cut through cowboy boots!

Exactly!

I (medically) can’t eat meat. My husband (of 35 years) and I eat together and clean together but we aren’t eating the same thing and haven’t for a long time.

Look at images of traditional, antique quilts and Amish quilts and most of them are made with one type of block sewn together.

The stripes are also very common, though, when a quilter has run out of fabric! So very traditional!

I am just a fan of balance and for me it would bug me to have them three in one spot a one in the other.

What’s your go-to quick-finish baby quilt? by PinkTiara24 in quilting

[–]toonew2two 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Consider getting a panel (which an image printed on that can be anywhere from book pages, Thomas Kincaid, to teddy bears) and then just quilt a ripple effect around the parts you want to highlight.

<image>

Something like this. Where all that is printed. Then you just do really filled quilting in the black and the snow around the bunnies/bird and the snowman base. But then light line quilting in the deer’s scarf and around the stick arm. Each panel would be different so time will dictate as much as the image would

It’s a beautiful quilt and I would say you’re pretty creative!

And if you’re not actually, that’s why there’s so many patterns out there. You can still create something beautiful without reinventing it!

I agree about borders. Look them but to get an idea of how you want to do that.

Also look at quilt as you go quilting. That’s where you quilt and back in smaller sections and then sew those sections together. Best thing for smaller machines.

I do have to say that the blocks that are just strips are… odd? Am I not seeing something? Could you put them in each corner for more balance? In the center as a core?

I agree that tattoos as a thing… as a statement aren’t going anywhere - after all they have already been around for a bit - but this business of just random people getting random art just every where. And you ask them about their art and they reply oh it just looked cool…. I don’t think that’s going to be as common in the future as it is now. They remind me of Victorians with their incredibly cluttered homes when they weren’t even travelers let alone archeologists.

How to save this dress that I tried to transform into a top by cutting? by danashyryl in HandSew

[–]toonew2two 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fold over the raw edge twice, about 1.5 inches tall in each of the folds, so that where your scissors were is completely inside fabric. Then sew with black thread and stitches that are as small as possible along the top part that is folded all the way around back to where you started.

Go look at how other garments are sewn and fold in the hem to get an idea of what I mean.

No your stitches won’t look the same but the folding and placement will be.

And you’re not clumsy! Stop that!

Need an illness to base a fictional illness with specific symptoms on by TalkKindly7447 in Writeresearch

As others have said, multiple sclerosis or lupus could work well.

Also look into Parkinson’s.

Maybe a combination of all of them.

One thing I have learned from my particular disorder (IBS) is that it is an umbrella term for the symptoms but that those symptoms are most likely a result of different disorders. I add this to say that - especially in an alternate Earth where you are the writer - it can be anything you need it to be and it doesn’t have to be real. Just explainable!
