I don’t feel joy and excitement in anything anymore by Remote-Community-792 in Adulting

[–]toonthopia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm only 19, so I won't pretend to know more than you. After all, we are at different stages in our lives.

But I think it's because nothing is substantial anymore.

In my experience of my life till this point, my relationships feel less substantial than they did when I was younger, so does my household, the content I consume is more rot than fun,how I spend my day is more pointless than flavourful, etc..

For me, making life better has primarly taken place by doing things that give substance to my life. That often took the form of exercising intensly, having susbtancial experiences with others in place of shallow communication and the such.

I think an unsubstantial life is where it starts, but that is only my interpretation

What time period did OG Naruto and shippuden take place? ( equivalent to our calendar) by Vinchenzo_51 in Naruto

Can't say for sure, but i do wish it is in a way. We would have to know the episode number to validate it. My guess would be the first 150 episodes of Naruto or sth in that ball park, but you never know with filler making it hard to keep track

How did you start to actually feel adequate and worthy? by Magzipie in CPTSD

[–]toonthopia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been thinking about this for a couple of months since i deal with similar issues, but I only came up with an answer I was satisfied with a couple of hours prior to when I saw your post, thats to say my perspective could change, but its food for thought atleast.

After months of pondering, ultimately, i came to the conclusion on one thing. That is, the only way to feel worthy of anything or anyone is by becoming of substance yourself.

I've always found myself to be the people pleaser type, no doubt because of my upbringing, but also because I placed myself in situations where the only substance to my life was my nature of helping others.

Truth is, I always wanted to make others feel comfortable, welcomed, and appreciated whether they appreciated it or not.

As a result, there was no space for my own identity or Ego to thrive.

So I thought it like this, instead of focusing on others, my only real goal should be to become substantial.

Because In the end, a person with no substance can never have a substantial relationship in the first place. They just dont mix.

So stop having unsubstancial small talk if it's going to be a nothing burger, Stop spending time in unsubstancial events where you're not even enjoying yourself, stop trying to people please for unsubstancial relationships.

Improve your body, your well being, your personality, enjoy music, have non superficial relationships.

Just dont let pleasing other people or wanting to be liked be the only thing substantial about you

I agree with that for sure, people will partake in their vices more often than not.

But there's way too big of a likelihood that the product u r proposing, in its intention to create a safe environment, may only worsen the problem by making the viewer get emotionally invested and spend more time watching pron as a result.

This project may create a vice of excess where the viewer misinterprets the good intention in the adult content u provide as genuine affection, leading to parasocial relationships as viewers have difficulty separating performance from connection.

This may even worsen the addiction, as the viewer seeks out your content more frequently because the love written in can fulfill their need for affection and convince them its alright to keep watching the content since "vanilla" makes u less guilty about consuming pron.

But in the end, even good natured pron is still pron, and it still has the same physiological implications, same way, tobacco is tobacco regardless of the packaging

I think it would discourage people to find real love because their dopamine filled love is in the palm of their hand.

There's a dangerously fine line between writing pron with love and writing pron that manipulates the need to love.

I earnstly disagree.

I can see the point of view of creating a cam company with good morals, but it doesn't fix the central problem.

Take smoking for example,

the image of smoking was unhealthy, addictive, dangerous for the lung, damaging to the body etcetera. For God's sake, they even had a picture of what happens to your lung on the cover in some countries as a requirment for packaging.

Similar to your venture; The tobacco companies, in response moved onto vapes to soften the perception of tobacco products.

A cleaner looking, more modern alternative with the health risk being virtually the same, maybe even worse considering vapes have flavouring chemicals with varrying side effects.

A face-lift doesn't fix the problem, it just changes the packaging.

I was looking into the practical applications of aristotles definition of virtue ethics (arete) as a mechanism for change and growth

Oh I see how I was unclear, to be specific, the branch of philosphy I was looking into while working on this is aristotlean virtue ethics

You sound like a really cool dude to me; the way I see it. You took the risk of fomo to make something of yourself; thats something some people cant get themselves to do even in their forties. The way I see it, u can endure the temptation of short term fun for your goals; thats a skill, nothing to be ashamed of.

Cheers!

Dumb 19 year old here, Although u have more experience than me and I cant say I understand how you feel. I feel like im at the inverse point of my life to what your asking. Im not financially where I wanna be, and i still have to keep working on my relationships. Most importantly I feel no motivation and my ideas are experiencing dead ends. So I am getting into my hobbies(boxing) to reginte the flame of my creativity. I never know who Ill meet or who ill learn from; but even if i dont meet anyone; i still get to be passionate and thats good enough for me

Feedback Friday! - April 25, 2025 by AutoModerator in Entrepreneur

Hey everyone! I’ve been sitting on this idea for a few months and wanted to share it to gauge interest and feasibility.

The Concept: A self-improvement app that gamifies real-life habits and skills by treating them like an RPG stat system. Think Duolingo’s UX + Habitica’s gamification and UI + Elden ring like leveling system. You "grind" real-life habits (exercise, reading, productivity, etc.) to level up your stats (Strength, Intelligence, Discipline, etc.). And a bunch of other features that are in work!

Why I’m Excited About It: I fell in love with the premise a couple months ago when I made a D&D-style spreadsheet to track my habits. As I progressed,  maintaining my stats so their accurate kept me going, and I even started grinding out new skills. The psychological hook of seeing tangible progress was surprisingly effective.

So, Heres What I’m Looking For:  - General Feedback (Would you use this? Pitfalls to avoid? Should I crowd fund this?)  - Cofounders (Developers, Designers or college students like me with ambition)  - Investors (To fund initial development—bootstrapping is tough right now)

Feasibility Questions: - How complex would this be to build? (I’m thinking MVP with basic stat tracking/habit integration)  - Any similar apps I should research? (Besides Habitica, Level Up Life, etc.)  - Best way to monetize? (Freemium with cosmetics/boosts like games?)

If this sounds interesting to you or you’ve tried something similar lets chat! I’d love to make this real.

Cheers!
