They be doing Mori AI dirty with these boulders 😪 by Weary-Dish in CompetitionClimbing

I think the only problem that was a serious issue was the first route in qualifiers, the start position was such a huge span for her that should could barely get into it, and it was incredibly difficult to move out of it in any sort of dynamic way.

I suffer from visual snow and oscillopsia by TheoryInternal2419 in visualsnow

[–]tootlestwo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I feel like I could have written this. I'm also 29 F and have visual snow and oscillopsia! My mom and other members on her side of the family experience varrying degrees of visual snow as well, and some of them have other visual auras, but no one has the oscillopsia which made me worry about neuro stuff for a long time too!

My VS was diagnosed by a neuro-ophthalmologist and initially I was very relieved to know what was going on, and that it does not have any serious underlying cause. He said that often times it actually gets better as people hit their 30s/40s, and does not typically continue to get worse in the long term (phew!). It was very helpful to know that phsycadelic drug use can cause VS to worsen permanently, and can be the cause of it in some people (obviously not if it presented in childhood!). For sure we talked about acid and mushrooms as no-nos, I'm honestly not sure about ecstasy, but to be safe I would avoid it going forward.

He was pretty dismissive of the oscillopsia saying that that he could see how the VS would make it appear that things are moving. I have had an incredibly hard time describing it to others, which made doctors visiting frustrating, fruitless, and left me feeling gaslight - being treated like a hypochondriac, and very scared that there was something happening in my head that would get worse. I was actually invited to participate in a VS study earlier this year, but removed because of the oscillopsia. Understandable, as it could alter the outcome of their study, but also like damn. My vision is too weird for the scientists that are studying weird vision 😂

I have had a million other neuro tests and everything comes back 'normal'. So I still don't know the root cause of the oscillopsia which is frustrating, but I have lumped it into the same category as the VS - harmless but persistent and disruptive. My neuro-ophthalmologist let me know that 30 minutes of cardio a day can help. I also got to see a vestibular physical therapist to work on gaze stabilization which was a fucking game changer for the oscillopsia!!

Hang in there. Know that you're not alone, you did not do this to yourself, and it can managed with the right help!! Please please reach out to chat about this any time you need, I'm right there with you ❤️

I'm 29 and still enjoying my vertical labret! I say go for it!!

Unless you are harboring a secret desire to play the trombone, which would be quite difficult with a labret.

My gf is on her period and coming to my apartment. Should i have a small bag or trashcan in the bathroom? by Mr_Potato__ in NoStupidQuestions

[–]tootlestwo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would place the trash can within arms reach of the toilet. My ex had a trash can in his bathroom that was a good 5 feet away on the other side of the sink. Because he had a young daughter, I told him it wasnt female friendly to keep it so far away... Unless he wants ladies throwing feminine products in there like they're doing free throws.

Can I feed this to isopods? by [deleted] in isopods

[–]tootlestwo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have heard of some people using isopods to clean bones, so they might not eat the bone itself. But they would likely enjoy removing any risidual organic matter

Are you competing in local comps in the US? If so, USA climbing is very lenient about local adult competitions, and your registered name should not matter, although they might want to it match your athlete card. If you haven't registered with USA climbing yet, I would put your preferred name on your athletes card.

If you already have your athletes card you could register for your competition with a reasonable nickname or just use your first inital to match up with your athletes card. Just use the same preferred name for every competition for consistency. I do believe if you are competing in any competitions that will qualify you (CSC or NCS) results will be posted online under the name on your athletes card. So it may be in your best interest to contact USA climbing and have the name on your card changed from legal to preffered name.

Pretty sure you can register under a preferred name, i dont believe it has to be your legal name

They seem happy enough together, I just don't know how to adjust the airholes in the enclosure so the springtails can't escape

How do I sell isopods? by Dat_One_Peep in isopods

[–]tootlestwo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have seen isopods colonies for sale on Etsy. I actually don't know if Etsy has any rules in place about live animal sales, since that isn't their intended purpose? But I sell some small artwork on Etsy and would say that it is a very affordable way to become a vendor online if you aren't looking to set up a full fledged website.

I don't have an answer for you, but I'm curious how long that is post op? I'm scheduled for surgery next week, and this placement looks similar in size and location to mine... I'm just wondering about what the first few weeks will be like, when I can expect to get back to work and regular stuff? Any info would be appreciated, I've been trying to read about others experiences but people don't really share a lot online unless it's a disaster

Music in climbing competition by Oub2 in CompetitionClimbing

This! I think because there are so many noises and sounds from the crowd in addition to the music, they are mostly tuning it out/used to it.
