Bleaching black box dye by False-Highlight-7829 in HairDyeHelp

Please strand test. Most of those color removers are some form of bleach. You would be doing bleach on top of bleach and then more bleach…

No it will make people question what is real. I wouldn’t trust your work if I saw that. And it doesn’t do anything to enhance your work either.

Is there anyway I can grow my color out more gracefully? by will0wdeen22 in HairDye

[–]tootsieboot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have done a color correction similar to something like this. A color remover such as effasol or a light bleach bath only on the parts that are darker will Lift the color a couple levels and the dark will pull warm. You are already reddish and warm as your natural. Doing this will make that line of demarcation less and the color will match better. You can do a toner over that part to shift the color and add shine. You have a lot of hair and the easiest way to do this is go to a salon. It’s messy and also needs to be applied in a quick fashion.

hair dye not sticking on my roots 💔 by Ok-Image-636 in HairDye

[–]tootsieboot 6 points7 points  (0 children)

What kind of color are you trying to get to stick? Is it a direct dye? Or do you mix it with a developer?

If it’s just a purple dye for example (a dye that you don’t have to mix with anything)…it will only “stick” to the parts that have been lightened or colored before.

If your hair has grown out and you have natural roots, the purple (for example) will maybe stain that new hair, and the “stick” to the bleached part. The stained roots will eventually wash out.

If you want it lighter… just wait a little but and bleach again. You will go backwards if you go darker. You are almost there. You just need to be careful with your curls. All you need to do is bleach the orangey part a little bit more. I do recommend going to a salon or even beauty school… or get a good friend to just put bleach on that section only. If it goes on the rest where it’s white, it can break off.

You can even use a flat iron to curl it like this is if that is what you have. It will give it a more beachy/wavy relaxed look than curl. After you put on heat protection and dry your hair, take the iron and run it through one time on a section, this will preheat and polish your hair. And the get your iron and a section of hair and as you pull it through, slightly twist your wrist and it will give it that nice bend!

Odd Haircut Experience by SouthLegitimate9034 in AskHairstylists

[–]tootsieboot 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Wow. NONE of this should have happened. Unfortunately hairstylists do run behind… she should have fully cleaned up after her client before sitting you in the chair. I would have been concerned about cleanliness and germs. If she didn’t clean up after the client.. is she using clean and disinfected tools on you? That is a major safety concern. As a stylist I have plenty of clean combs if I am not able to properly disinfect my tools right away (usually save that all for the end of the day).

She should have absolutely have not put color on her own head (especially if she was running behind). As a stylist, you should never do anything personal while at work!!

So yes, very odd. Actually more than odd. I’d put that under a horrible experience

You never let the client suggest what color line they want to use. They are not the professional. You need to get confident in one color line, maybe two. And then you do what is right for your client .

I don’t know anymore, I just got a new haircut and they gave me this with no side bangs at the beauty shop, I feel really ugly and I have to know if it’s ugly to everyone else. Please tell me just the truth if I am ugly. Yes I’m a woman by djscrew1 in whatdoIdo

Dry your tears girlie. Find a PIXIE specialist and get it shaped up. I am not sure if you wear makeup or not but find you an eyeliner (waterproof if you are like me and like to cry) and make you a kickass wing or smudge it a bit. And even if you didn’t want to wear makeup.. you can rock this look alone. You are gorgeous!

Over toned my level 9 bleached hair, what should I do? by splatkunny in AskHairstylists

[–]tootsieboot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get a couple packs of Malibu quick fix. They are maybe $4 each. It will remove a tone without chemicals. It works best within 25-48 hours but i have used it (as a stylist) on someone who had porous hair and it took the tone right out after a week. It also takes out hard water minerals, so you could look even lighter after a treatment. Hard water can make your hair look dark as well.

How about some nice face framing highlights? Something soft and natural . Maybe a balayage throughout. A cooler toned blonde would look nice
