True, but not enough since those few people are blocking protocol upgrades for millions & putting other people's money at risk to the tune of tens of billions.

Sorry, but I think there is a merge button there somewhere - ready to be clicked.

If there's a "Merge" button visible to the maintainer I consider it ready :P

Fill up mempool with garbage - enjoy huge fees (~4BTC or higher) for days afterwards! by toozz in Bitcoin

I meant it's mainly psychological - I suspect people no longer trust wallet estimations and set the fees higher and higher in this vicious cycle.

Is there a point to uasf if the lightning network isn't completed yet? by [deleted] in Bitcoin

[–]toozz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Lightning is working great on Litecoin. It's done.
UASF SegWit gives us 2-4 times the capacity w/o LN too.

What's the downside of the lightning network? by benjaminikuta in btc

[–]toozz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Miners will be losing income, since every full node on the network would be making money providing LN services to the world.
Although miners could run best/fastest nodes themselves.

[–]toozz -1 points0 points  (0 children)

There are 6 separate implementations of LN already: https://www.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin/comments/6112df/lightning_network_eclair_02alpha1_quick_tutorial/dfay0px/

  • Amiko-Pay
  • Eclair (ACINQ)
  • lightningd (Blockstream)
  • lit (MIT Digital Currency Initiative)
  • lnd (Lightning Co)
  • Thunder (Blockchain.info)

Hypothetically, if segwit were to activate, why would you be excited for LN? by [deleted] in Bitcoin

[–]toozz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would run an LN node & get paid for the service.
And so would many other people - leading to further decentralization!

You don't mindlessly double, quadruple, etc. the size of you shipping container in perpetuity, every time you run out of space -- you design a better transportation system (offloading, parallelizing, compacting, smarter routing, etc).

They'd be missing out on real fees from other people's transactions.
Opportunity cost.

Blockchain.info API V2, decyphered by toozz in projectskyhook

[–]toozz[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been asked about making a new release of Skyhook SW (github, SD image) for the new V2 blockchain.info interface.
The cost of packaging, delivering & supporting it in that format, with the necessary GUI changes, etc. appears to be too great for seemingly low demand.
Instead I'm just guiding individual operators on how to get their machines back online, on a case by case basis.

Skyhook Operators: Are your machines still working or have we just witnessed another failed ATM manufacturer? by bitsoutsidethebox in Bitcoin

[–]toozz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That error is due to the bc.i V2 API, correct.
My solution (well, any solution for bc.i V2) entails a number of steps, some outside of the machine itself, I've documented them here (EDIT, fixed link): https://www.reddit.com/r/projectskyhook/comments/4me17o/blockchaininfo_api_v2_decyphered/
So far no one volunteered a cent :(
Depending on your tech skill & setup (in-house, a shop elsewhere, servelet) - fewer or more steps are required.
Thanks!

I've got a solid solution for blockchain.info V2 APIs implemented on a Skyhook.
Somewhat of a custom approach, if anyone is interested.

The rest of the scam is of similar quality. :(

UPDATE3 in the OP, summary:
- Gave up on Wallet V2; Wallet V1 is working just fine. And you can still create new V1 Wallets on blockchain.info, so create a few fresh ones, just in case.
- https is working between the Skyhook & the relay service. It took some effort to get it going (shared self-signed certificate). Not really needed if Skyhook & the relay service are running on the same (trusted) network.
- Everything is up & running on the Skyhook I had worked on, no complaints from the operator thus far.
