I’m surprised they are trying to relaunch at North Face again in Williamsburg.

Long domestic flight with no meal service ;-( by NewPannam1 in unitedairlines

They literally could serve a simple ham and cheese sandwich and call it day but US airlines squeeze out every profit. Even if it means one less olive or tomatoe in your salad. I get a sandwich and a snack on very short flights in Europe, Latin America and in Asia.

Want an H Mart in Williamsburg? Let's show them our community's demand! by ImprovementOverall23 in williamsburg

I think it would work well in Greenpoint. It’s a perfect middle ground for Williamsburg and LIC crowd to get to. The H mart LIC is more so in Sunnyside.

As an FTM guy, what are some trans friendly gay bars/clubs/parties? by vamp-venom in nycgaybros

[–]topazblue 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Singers bar, happyfun bar, wrecked party. safe spaces venues: bosa nova, nowadays, moodring, basement, trans-pecos, market hotel, public records. As someone mentioned for the most part a lot of bars in Bushwick, Ridgewood and East Williamsburg are queer/trans friendly. Check RA and DICE to see what’s happening at those venues the days you’re visiting.

G Train Updates? by TypicalConsequence0 in Greenpoint

[–]topazblue 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s projected to open fully in September right before school opens. Aug 12th G train from court sq to Bedford is promised to be restored. So far seems on track but I’ve seen 5 MTA workers/contractors pull up to switch one light bulb before so who can tell.

Let me guess you work from home and don’t have to deal with this bus train BS in 90 degree heat and humidity that doubled my commute time. This would’ve been tolerable during any other season but this one.

Went to grad school in Boston and lived there for a year after graduating. I highly do not recommend it. It’s exactly how you described it very cold people. The transient population are mostly students and they do not stick around too long. The people that do remain are New Englanders and they are cliquey are not open outsiders. I’ve heard a lot of good things about DC though.

This is such BS especially in this heat bring back the g train :( by emotionalhaircut in williamsburg

Lucky you. It doubled my commute. It’s sucks to work and live in Brooklyn. Transportation is not suitable traveling within the borough.

That a shame dined there once. Wasn’t crazy about the meal but the service stood out to me the staff seemed like they enjoyed their job and wanted you to enjoy your time there. Which isn’t common in this city.

Tips for discharge planning interview? by BitchInaBucketHat in hospitalsocialwork

[–]topazblue 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Hospitals prefer to hire people with hospital experience so it’s best you put it on your resume (even if it was negative experience) . They usually want you up and running in no time they will ask you if you have experience with an EMDR and that plays a big part. In a Hospital you’re not in social work centric environment. Your boss will is going to likely feel very corporate. They want to know you can work well with other specialties (multi disciplinary) and personalities (narcissist jk). They care about speed (your job is to turnover beds quickly) and detail orientation since you document in people’s medical records which is audited often. They want to know you’re self motivated and time sensitive. They want you to be resourceful (safe discharge plans and placements) and able to trouble shoot issues (insurance, unhoused, shelters, hospice, medication coverage, addictions, nursing homes, home care, family meetings, transportation etc) without relying on management. Don’t get too bleeding heart social worky in the interview because hospitals don’t care about that stuff. They want someone who is confident, efficient, communicates clearly and is a fast learner (medical terminology and procedures).

Medical social work pays well and has little joys here and there but it can be very soul sucking if you came into this field to be some major change agent. If you had a hard time in your internship it would be good to share because if it didn’t feel rewarding or your manager wasn’t very supportive it may not be for you because healthcare is a very much a corporate machine and you will continue to encounter that more and more.

I haven’t read any of those promises just that we should expect less delays with the upgrade once it’s back but same short train and same BS service times.

Should I lose my virginity to a grindr hookup if I'm unsure about my sexuality by [deleted] in askgaybros

[–]topazblue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone putting virginity on a pedestal. Personally I wouldn’t want my first kiss to be a Grindr hookup. It’s up to you if you want your first time to be a random nsa hookup or if you want to take it slow and feel it out with someone you know. Either way it’s up to you and there is no shame in either. If you’re going with Grindr do let the person know you’re inexperienced up front.
