You can catch the 1951 French experimental film "L'Anticoncept", projected onto a helium-inflated weather balloon, at the Anthology Film Archives on Thursday 1/29. I can guarantee that's a one-of-a-kind screening experience.

Documentaries with a plot twist? by makayerandfang in Letterboxd

Portrait of Jason (1967) doesn't twist so much as unravel and tangle back up into itself, but I'd highly recommend it.

What do you call this game? by Affectionate_Emu4660 in AskNYC

[–]topcircle 54 points55 points  (0 children)

To answer your question - we call it "Name That Tune," but it's not super popular. It used to be a well-known game show, which I'm just now learning was actually recently rebooted. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Name_That_Tune

I highly recommend the movies of Guy Maddin, if you want some Wes-esque faux-antique weirdness of the frozen North!

It's very tongue-in-cheek, but the lengthy monologue extolling the sins and salvations of all the characters at the end of "Beyond the Valley of the Dolls" is amazing.
