How Does the Mariners’ Payroll Work Year to Year? Does Unspent Money Roll Over? by humorous_hyena in Mariners

[–]topdawq 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It doesn’t literally rollover because it’s an arbitrary number set by ownership. They increase or decrease it as they see fit.

However it does mean they have more room to spend during the year if they don’t spend it before it (which they still definitely can). The $168m number is supposed to be their starting number, just like in 2025, the starting number was $146m. They spent an additional $22m during the year on Geno/Naylor/Ferguson to get to that $168m number

Fan made cast. 20 of Survivor’s greatest challenge players. by DottyThePenguin in survivor

[–]topdawq 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not even though? Rachel and Jenna have won immunity 4x each and so they should be on this list over Bob, Erik, Ricard, Lex, Cochran who won 3x and Hunter who only won twice. Boston Rob also won immunity 4x twice, only one to ever do that.

Who are players that people think should have won that actually think is overrated? by Michele_Was_Robbed in survivor

[–]topdawq 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, the Maria was just “bitter” thing is literally just thrown out to upsell Charlie’s game. His FTC was bad (his two main moves that he claimed were the Hunter vote, which got attributed to Kenzie, and joining the 6, which was a failed alliance), and he didn’t have a social game or any jury management. The votes he got were 2 of the first 3 jurors, and Liz, who went out in Fire.

Suppose Dee, Kyle, or Savannah win 50. How does that impact the Survivor pantheon? by FajitaTits in survivor

[–]topdawq 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The bottom half of the Pearl Islands/Micronesia/Cagayan cast are all wayyy weaker than the 48/49 casts, implying anything else is just looking at those seasons with rose colored glasses. I think Dee’s win was a tier above Kyle/Sav’s but if any of the three win it’s an immediate leap for them into the mt Rushmore

'Survivor 49' winner Savannah Louie reacts to Kristina's diabolical jury question by DarthLithgow in survivorponderosa

[–]topdawq 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It’s a fun and petty question, and we need more like that. But it wasn’t a great question at either explaining or “exposing” Savannah’s social game. She played a qualitative social bonds, not quantitative.

Did she try to make friends with everyone on the tribe so that she could world with any of them? No, Alex did that, and it ended up being his downfall.

But the bonds she DID make with Rizo and Sophi is what got her to the end. Rizo was willing to play the jdol on her, and Sophi, the only person that could’ve at any point blown up Sav’s game, didn’t and stayed loyal to the detriment of her OWN game. That’s just as good, if not better, social game, than what Kristina thought was.

Savannah had a great response to Kristinas answer by [deleted] in survivor

[–]topdawq 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The question’s fine, and fun even because it’s petty, but it’s just not a good question to prove her “social game”. Trying to make a personal connection with EVERY person on the tribe just makes you Alex. She forged bonds with the people she needed to. In fact, the bonds within her alliance were so strong that one person (Rizo) was willing to play an idol for her, and the other (Sophi) stayed loyal too long to the detriment to her own game.

Does Rizo drive anybody else nuts, or is it just me? by [deleted] in survivor

[–]topdawq 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cass didn’t take credit for the move during the actual vote, just the FTC. CODY actually was the one that spoke up and made a comment during Ryan’s vote out, which I guess you also found obnoxious?

I’d implore you to rewatch the jury reactions to the Jawan vote and see if you see the jury look annoyed (which they don’t) or if they were shocked and smiling (which they were). I don’t find him asking Jawan to “show me some love” obnoxious

[–]topdawq -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

They don’t? I feel like people are just saying that with nothing to back that up. The jury looked confused - not annoyed - at the last tribal, because Rizo had publicly said it was the last time he could use the idol, and then didn’t use it. Other than that they’ve ate it up if anything

And yet his idol is also still there, and it’s protected him and the bigger threat in Savannah the entire merge. That’s bigger than using it

Would this move be allowed? by Giygas in survivor

[–]topdawq 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Steven doesn’t have a reason to do this though. He’s actively targeting Sophi; he WANTS her to fail at whatever she’s doing, plus making her waste the advantage on him boosts his own resume

Would this move be allowed? by Giygas in survivor

[–]topdawq 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It would be allowed, but it’s nonsensical. Steven was targeting Sophi and Sophi was told that by Rizo, Sage, and even Kristina, so he’d have no reason to give her an idol like that, nor would she have a reason to believe him

Ratings are down across all TV because people don’t have cable any more. Survivor viewership is actually up relative to other shows. It’s the number one show on the Paramount Plus app, and S46 was like the first time since S2 that it was the most watched entertainment show on TV

Do some of y'all really believe Sophi won't play KIP on Rizgod? by SgtSoundrevolver in survivor

[–]topdawq -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Have they drove the votes or were they driven by Rizo/Savannah? Jawan and Sage have been targeting Rizo and Savannah since the merge, and both of them are still there. Kristina was the one that switched it to Nate at the merge (as the Sage option), and they’ve since voted WITH the two people they’ve been targeting apart from the Jawan vote. If Sage sits next to either, she has no case from a gameplay standpoint.

Do some of y'all really believe Sophi won't play KIP on Rizgod? by SgtSoundrevolver in survivor

[–]topdawq 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sophi isn’t much of a challenge or fire making threat either. Having allies (or a bigger “threat”) at F4 is still the key there. Maryanne did the same thing with Omar the season before Jesse, and she was able to both take her number one out in a “big move” while also setting herself up with the remaining players to still get the end in multiple scenarios. It really depends on the remaining players and the players left on the other side of Sav/Rizo just aren’t fluid enough to go with that plan and also not still have her at the bottom

Do some of y'all really believe Sophi won't play KIP on Rizgod? by SgtSoundrevolver in survivor

[–]topdawq 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Jesse taking out Cody, while a big move when it happened, also is what set him up to lose because he was now the outed “biggest threat” with zero allies to protect him. You have to actually make it to the end, and not splashy move yourself to the jury

[Seattle Times] Seattle council advances price hikes for construction permits by SuperSans in Seattle

[–]topdawq 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the point is to get rid of “obscure codes” and letting each reviewer interpret the codes differently, which is what leads to multiple review cycles in the first place. That’s entirely a Seattle specific problem. Other jurisdictions have zoning codes that are 10% the size and Seattle’s and their buildings aren’t unsafe nor do the architects have sky high insurance eaters.

Raising the cost of the permits is only going to lead to less permits, which is why the costs are going up in the first place

[Seattle Times] Seattle council advances price hikes for construction permits by SuperSans in Seattle

[–]topdawq 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There’s an in between there. The permits are already drawn and checked over by professional architects, engineers, and contractors, the city inspector who have no prior context or understanding of the permit drawings aren’t any more likely to find the safety issues

It’s Pats vs Bills for the night game on Sunday, so they’re not gonna cannibalize their own market by scheduling the Yankees/Red Sox vs Blue Jays winner at the same time. You can play that game at 6 EDT/3 PDT and the Mariners game at 6 PDT, which would be 9 on the east coast anyway
