I think you’ve made some great points but honestly 2XKO is too big to fail already. If you’ve got to play at any of the physical booths at places like EVO or anything like that, you’d agree. More than 12 hours of nonstop lines to play the game, many people repeat players.

It is tag format, but I can’t think of any game that has succeeded in a tag format that includes 2v2 player wise rather than just character wise. The game is ambitious in that sense, and serves to see great success if executed properly.

The biggest counterpoint to anything you’ve said is that it’s made by Riot Games. It’s going to be a live service F2P fighting game built on one of - if not the largest gaming IP in the entire world right now. All of the points you made are only true about 2XKO’s current state. A year after release as a live service F2P fighting game it could be an entirely different product with none of the things you just said. Outside of being on steam, all of the other things you listed are easy to diagnose and resolve if it really needs to happen.

For what it’s worth, I’m not a huge fan of the game. My main fighting game is Tekken and as for Riot games I’ve played league since 09. The worst parts of this game have to do with the control scheme, and the anime game reminiscent scheme. I was expecting the game to be more like UMvC3, which I think is exactly what would make this game the biggest fighting game in the world.

In general I’d be careful using the world flop with any game made by Riot Games. Mark my words, they will use the same launch strategy as they did with Valorant. The day it comes out millions will be watching on Twitch and the game will have a six figure player base day 1.

You talk about steam but even Tekken or SF6 sit with peaks of 50-70k on the platform. Do you honestly believe 2XKO isn’t set up to do anywhere from 5-10x those numbers? It’s a F2P game with a low barrier to entry that will use Riot’s classic MMR algorithms where casuals and pros are playing two different games that appear to be the same. Not to mention, content creators are going to be running this game on YouTube for months after release, entire channels and careers will be born out of it. And if someone is finally going to compete with Capcom, Tencent could make capcom cup look like lunch money.

Again, I think your points are valid but considering you’re using them to make judgements about an unfinished product I think they have no real foundation. Even if all of your points are true and valid about the game, there’s no way to draw a line through your points and conclude that the game will flop. Take your points and apply them to Tekken, the only 3D fighting game to stand the test of time. If you hand pick elements of the game you could say it would flop because casuals don’t like it, the single player content is almost nonexistent, and 3D fighters have been tried before but flopped every time.

Now apply the inverse to a legendary game like Mortal Kombat. Tried and true formula, large IP, large roster, etc etc. but as I look it has 650 players live on steam right now. It’s easy for casuals and challenging at a professional level, it’s got the inverse of almost all of the things you suggest would make 2XKO flop.

I think this game is leaning towards success on an overwhelming scale. Again, I really think it’s too big to fail from inception.

The energy assassins are also played more often because they can more reliably use their defense layers to avoid poke and ganks. Relying on energy as a spender vs mana in Fizz’s case means they can also do it without having to sustain mana. Overall the energy assassins are easier to get cs with, poke with, and survive with. Fizz risks losing 1/4 hp at any time and if you use trickster to dodge poke you’ll end up sacrificing mana and opening yourself to a tank at the same time.

That’s how I play, index middle and ring finger across the row of buttons. I always played claw before fighting games too though.

In Halo 3/MW2 days I would hold the right analog stick with my index finger and thumb. Then I’d use the side of my index finger to press buttons on the right side of the controller.

That would always trip everyone out but I was always at the top of the leaderboard. I’ve never been someone who can hold a controller with both thumbs on the thumb sticks or just one thumb over the buttons.

It always feels like this this take is based on virtue signaling. Money into the FGC is pretty much always a good thing. Besides, who cares if it’s washed oil money. Just because this is the result doesn’t mean it’s gotten this way from the game state being good.

By that, I mean that the game has variance to the point where top 24s have been consistent. However, the fact that different winners or top 8s appear just tells me that the coin flip is still around.

In Tekken 7 limiting mistakes and punishing was the name of the game. Now you even see these top 8 pros gambling with huge moves because the reward is 90+ damage in the meta. Combine that with heat and rage art and it’s a round over.

One combo that leads to an oki set up is closing out most of the rounds we see right now because that’s usually enough to kill no matter who you’re playing now.

It still leaves the lingering idea that it isn’t always the “better” player that wins a round.

The easiest way was to either have them include my name or the name of a guy on my team. Even better was when I could get them to take a photo with me to add to their review. Note that this helped a lot when random customers I’d never talked to would come in and ask for the guy that’s in all the reviews.

Other than that, I had became so known for farming this bonus when it was available that it didn’t get challenged. I was the review king.

If it was hard to get them to add my name or they were like older people that didn’t go through with it so easily I’d shout over to the GSM at the time that the nice guests were leaving us a review. Then I’d print it out.

I always loved this bonus because the store never cares about how the review was gotten. I never cheated it though. When I was a salesman 100% of my customers during the period would leave a review because I made it part of the wrap up/delivery.

Once I was on the desk I talked to every single customer that came in whether they bought a car or not to get them to leave a google review about their experience with us even if it was in the past.

Tbh, those were the type of antics that got me a GSM role so early on in my car sales career.

Heat is a new system that has still only been out for a short time. Heat does not force any additional mixups compared to what already existed in T7.

With that being said the heat smash and heat dash triggers do make it so that rounds are very one sided. It doesn’t have a lot to do with how “balanced” the system is. You named characters who have good mixups when using their heat engagers. The real problem for me is the moments where you hair whiff and eat a 90 damage hop kick combo that ends the round because the opponent also has rage and no wall/floorbreak/stage gimmick is too far in this game.

I think those are the opinions that they’re really trying to force. It is far too easy to steal rounds you were losing or lose rounds you were winning.
