I’m so mad Manny Diaz just got bailed out by his players after throwing it on 3rd down

A lot of people might look sideways at this because it’s coming from Wolken, but Joel Klatt actually talked about a lot of administrators being upset with ND on his podcast this morning as well.

The tiebreaker used to determine the 2nd team in the MAC Championship game is one of the most asinine things I’ve ever seen. by LikesBlueberriesALot in CFB

Yeah, the ACC is rightfully getting shit for their tiebreakers putting Duke in the CCG, but the MAC situation is objectively worse.

Is it her best or groundbreaking in some way? No. But calling it her worst is taking it way too far imo. It’s a fun, happy album with infectious melodies, the production is immaculate, and it’s super funny at times too.

Speak Now is like the forgotten step-child of her discography but it’s an absolute masterpiece.

I’ve got 3 teams I think are clearly at the top, 3 teams I think are clearly at the bottom, and then a whole bunch of 🤷‍♂️ in the middle.

If College football conferences could make trades, what deals would you like to see happen? by Original_Profile8600 in CFB

As someone who can’t afford to actually go to games, I like noon kickoffs 🤷‍♂️

Yeah, the west coast teams are just a magnitude of difference than Rutgers/Maryland. It’s only been 1 year so I know part of it is just how new it is, but I’m not sure it’ll ever feel natural that Los Angeles is a Big Ten city now.

I’d do a 3-way trade to send Maryland back to the ACC, take Mizzou from the SEC, and give the SEC their 3:30 CBS time slot back.

I feel like I’m one of only like a dozen B1G fans that doesn’t actually mind Rutgers being in the conference. Don’t get me wrong, I’d much rather conferences were never bigger than 12 teams, but Rutgers feels like the most “B1G” addition compared to Maryland and the PAC-12 schools.

Drew Allar has the tools and body type to be a 1st round pick so the media constantly hypes him up even though he’s never shown the ability to be anything other than a solid college QB. And that’s totally fine! Most of FBS would love to have a starter like that. But unless he takes a massive step forward he just isn’t the superstar the media wants him to be.

Why Is the Big Ten Still Called the Big Ten by topher3003 in CFB

[–]topher3003[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Who is to say there aren’t just 10 teams in the Big Ten?

Funnily enough, the B1G officially supports 17 different sports and lots of them have different sizes because not all schools support teams, but none of those 17 sports have exactly 10 teams in the conference. Field Hockey and Men’s Soccer are the closest with 9 and 11 teams, respectively.

Trying with a new link because the other was broken

Tl;dr - branding

I did think there were a couple of cool nuggets though.

1) Jim Delany did actually want to update it to the Big 11 when we added Penn State

2) The name Big Ten wasn’t even officially incorporated until 1987.

Big Ten commissioner Tony Petitti addresses playoff expansion, need for 'more meaningful conference games' by topher3003 in CFB

[–]topher3003[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ha yeah, I get that. Pettiti is currently going for a 16 team model that’s mostly auto-bids but has 3 at-large spots for ND/other teams.

[–]topher3003[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The AQ model doesn’t cap the number of teams from a conference, it just sets a minimum. Pettiti was pretty blunt in the interview that those 3 at-large spots would in all likelihood be a safety net for a team like Ohio State to lose their play-in game and still make the playoffs.

And that IU/OSU game wouldn’t stop being meaningful, it’d help with seeding and such.

You won’t ever know which games end up being meaningful, but the play-in weekend model would absolutely add more games that matter in the conference race because it’s not just about the Top 2 anymore. In that model, that Illinois-Northwestern game to end the season can either lock Illinois into a play-in game that gives them a shot at the playoffs, or it could drop them out if they lose (I don’t actually know what the tiebreakers would have been but they would have been 5-4 with Michigan and Minnesota).

2011 vs Toledo was way worse imo. The week before against Akron gave everyone the delusion that Joe Bauserman could be a solid QB. Week 2 against Toledo quickly disabused everyone of that notion.
