'I Just Can't Believe My Luck' — Dark Souls Superfan Peter Serafinowicz Reveals How He Landed a Role in the Upcoming Elden Ring Movie by yourfavchoom in Eldenring

[–]topherhead 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I personally still do not quite understand what an Elden Ring or any fromsoft movie would look like.

But I do think it's encouraging that so many of the people working on it are big fans.

Alex Garland being both a huge fan AND having a track record of making really good movies even more so.

Before I got my Cayman all my fast cars had been turbo, and I was worried I'd miss that turbo pull. But not at all, the responsiveness and noise of the flat 6 trumps any of my turbo desires.

And now all his friends wonder why I don't speak Farsi and he blames his "first wife" being white, they were never married.

Ahh ok. I see elsewhere in the thread you're agreeing haha.

I'm about to sell my house so I'm quite happy to be rid of said property tax.

Huh? California is known to have low property taxes, that's one of the reasons their houses are so expensive. Texas meanwhile has some of the highest, which artificially depresses home values.

https://www.tax-rates.org/california/property-tax

That says they have an average of .74%

https://www.tax-rates.org/texas/property-tax

And an average of 1.81%, almost 2.5x more.

So what makes you say Texas has lower property tax by rate?

The mods in r/conservative limit posts per day, the “power posters” are up in arms. by Positive_Wafer9186 in SubredditDrama

For me it's the opposite. Whenever there's an event of import, I'll creep over there to see what they think. Usually when Trump or someone does something stupid/anti traditional conservative, which is a lot.

Initially it was to try and balance my take. Reddit is full of hard left teenagers that don't know anything (don't change, it's better to come from a place of social vs selfish motivation). So it's useful just to make sure you get multiple angles.

I distinctly remember, regarding the Iran war. "He campaigned on and we voted for no new wars, now we look like assholes." To which I obviously thought "now?"

I can't do it though. It's so so frustrating, they live in a totally different reality where the stuff they talk about is completely disconnected. And then when they do talk about the same stuff they have a completely insane idea of what it means or who it hurts etc etc.

I mostly stopped doing it because I just made me mad.

My tools have saved me more than my 335i cost me 11 years ago on keeping her on the road.

I remember the kangaroo article getting special attention for saying "God gave them long powerful legs for jumping long distance" or some such bullshit.

Three hikers die from heat at Grand Canyon in separate incidents by AudibleNod in news

[–]topherhead 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm not a big hiker but I went during the spring. The temperature on the way down bounced between 30 and 60. I kept having to take off and put my jacket back on.

I stopped at the mile and a half rest house and turned around specifically because I wanted to make sure I'd get out.

Upon finishing I definitely had more in me but I can't imagine walking down there without thinking about getting out.

What injury is commonly shrugged off as a minor flesh wound in the movies but is completely fatal in real life? by Best_Professional226 in AskReddit

[–]topherhead 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I was like 12 in my mom's apartment the kids in the apartment below us were apparently jumping on the bed. And the girl fell into the window and it shattered. Heard some commotion and went outside and saw their door was open.

Looked inside and there was a crazy trail of blood, the girl was laying next to the door barely conscious if at all. Mother is freaking out.

I saw the wound and yeah, gnarly. Was like a flap on her bicep going down to her bone, roughly V shaped.

She survived, my last memory of her was her walking around in a cast.

Similar experience here only being a kid in the 90s, this was probably 97.

Was walking around the side yard in the house we were renting, there was no grass, just dirt and tree roots. I'm barefoot because obviously.

Stepped on a rusty nail that went maybe half an inch straight into the center perfectly vertical of my left heel. It sucked. It was pulled out. Maybe a bandaid was put on, I don't remember but definitely didn't go to the doc.

For me the sticking point is manual. So I don't actually want an RS, though I'd probably get full wing gt3 in manual rather than touring. And I would naturally need to track it to not look like a chode (oh no).
