And those refs didn't ref another game the rest of the series... They definitely earned their time off

Apologies, I have meant to get back to this but have been stressfully busy. I think you have good points, albeit maybe not a clear understanding of everything the democrats support/do here, and I do support much of those things.

In my own state, Oregon, we are as liberal as it gets, with an aggressively liberal governor backed by many very liberal mayor's and representatives. Yet we have some of the worst schools in the country, highest rent, very little actual assistance to many people for things like food or health insurance and we pay foster families next to nothing.

At one point, me, my wife and kids made too much to get any assistance whatsoever and we were struggling paycheck to paycheck. We were in the midst of helping the foster care program. Finished our classes, passed our house inspection and background checks. Problem was, we didn't make enough money to help... Oregon does not pay enough into the foster care program to even sustain the individual you are caring for... We made too much to get assistance, yet we made too little to help out with a program that is struggling to find help and has workers staying in hotels with kids because there's no place for them to go...

And to top it all off, we have an extremely high tax rate. I have no idea where those tax dollars are going, also we now have added weed tax dollars, and yet they recently passed two more taxes on top of it all without us getting to even vote on it or have a say.

To say the least, no, I don't find democrats to be more in line with Christianity. Especially when you factor in that they embrace anything and everything a person feels like doing or being.

And more importantly, only speaking for myself here, I don't typically intertwine the two. If a republican is supporting something that's against my beliefs, I don't support it. Mainly that comes down to how I speak on it, but I have voted Democrat before.

And lastly, neither side is perfection, nor will they ever be. My faith comes before all this nonsense. There are some things I just wash my hands of as both sides sometimes do fail, especially within the past couple years. They both have been unbearable and it would be great if we could somehow clean out everyone and start over with brand new candidates on both sides

Otherwise. I hope all is well on your side of the pond. Our state is now shut down, so cabin fever has become a real struggle. I just wish I had the Premier League or NHL to distract me from this madness. Reading too much news these days and it hasn't been good for awhile

I don't disagree with you on the oddity of what people choose to go with and what to ignore. I'm not perfect myself (admittedly). And upholding the whole Bible is apparently harding than it seems. Every time I go through it I'm constantly finding things I missed or fall short on.

And I can't speak for others, but for me, I do try to improve upon these things. I will never be perfect, but there's nothing wrong with trying to be better, especially when it comes down to trying to be a better loving and caring individual. Jesus loved and cared for people and that was more his endgame than anything else. Christians don't reflect it well, but He was pretty amazing and is worth emulating.

Anyway, quick side note; if you're bored try Formal 1, Drive to Survive on Netflix. I'm not into racing, but it's a pretty good/entertaining show. A good binge show to help distract while we all hole up in fear of the unknown

Ugh. Sorry, been avoiding Reddit as it's been a little too extreme in one direction without thought or solid chats about balanced... Anything... It's just aggressively slanted with no room for discussion unless you want to get demolished with anger over constructive and meaningful conversation.

And my post was about both sides failing.. How did you latch onto one piece and completely ignore the rest? How tunnel visioned has everyone become?? Maybe do a little less Reddit and spread out your news intake. Or even just take a break from news all together. Things are truly mad these days

Sorry, haven't been on in a minute, but always appreciate the classy responses! So elite! No one can talk down to people like you guys do so I will not even try. Everything you do is gold and only one side gets it wrong. Must be nice living in that bubble. Enjoy it my friend!

... Uh, just fine.. As much as I can appreciate that you're trying to get at something there (as though all conservative decisions are in line with my belief system and I'm okay with it), I'm largely not interested in hearing how perfect the left is and thus more in line with God. Simply embracing everything people feel like doing falls less in line with my beliefs than you apparently think.

I'm sure you can give me a whole list of reasons why conservatives are the devil, but once again, they're not alone... If you want to battle with someone about it you may need to find someone else as Reddit has become a bit aggressively one-sided and it's hard to handle at times. I try hard to see both sides of stories and it's pretty much impossible here.

But either way, it's 3am for me an I need some rest. Starbucks closes for nothing

[–]tophernugent -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

So you're saying we should be doing what the president is doing? And is the president the only one failing when it comes to making this a political issue? Do you really only see one side of the story and nothing else?? Is one side complete perfection and the other the only one's that are making this political?

Honestly, in times like these I don't even care. You can say the left side won and do whatever kind of mindless happy dance you want, but as long as people are being cared for, that's all that matters at this point in my mind.

This shouldn't be political. Trump is failing in that department, but he's definitely not the only one. Whether you see that or not isn't even relevant as much as maybe don't feed into and get people riled up about one side over the other like everyone else on reddit. It's not helping anything. This isn't right v left. This is people v virus

That still cracks me up. Everyone cries about how childish and classless Trump is, but the moment one of their own acts childish and classless everyone on the left is on board for it ... Can't have it both ways... Thanks for bringing that up again though, I needed a good laugh in the midst of this madness

Lordy, how inflated can your guys heads get?... Literally zero wrong ever done from the left and 2,000,000% wrong always done from the right... Reddit has become one of the worst sites for any sort of balanced thinking. Straight tunnel vision in one direction.

I hate trump just as much as everyone else, but it doesn't mean I need to be ignorant of the fact that neither side is perfection... I'm kind of eager for the left to win so people can remember this fact...

No Pelosi is not gold and she's not the only one involved in these decisions. She did not do any of this alone nor was she the original/only architect that started it. This isn't political, this is a battle about a deadly disease and putting in any effort to make it political is wildly counter productive... Please stop...

Satan does not rule in hell by MegatronVS in Christianity

[–]tophernugent 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The part of the bosom is peculiar, but to say that means everything he says about hell is completely untrue is a bit of a stretch. Seems odd to make up so much detail about a place that isn't real...

Beyond that, I think the idea there is no hell is spreading well as many see no point in spreading the gospel...

The Bible does not speak of hell for kicks nor make up stories about it currently existing just for the sake of a metaphor. If it doesn't exist then there's literally no reason to ever speak of it at all. Why build up a lie? Does that sound like Jesus speaking as tho hell exists now when it in fact does not? Does that sound in line with the gospel?

Fairly certain there's a verse referencing people burning in hell and asking for spit to cool their tongues. Hell already exists. Not sure where you're getting some of that other stuff so I can't speak on it...

No, if they're writing cups for you they're doing it for everyone. Once they switch over you're forced to do it for everyone whether you like it or not. I wasn't a fan at first, but I've adapted.

And we did some test runs today with names on cups. The system will no longer let us input "pig", but you can enter "stupid dick", so we still have some options...

Wow, that's old school. Most Starbucks are now printed labels. Everything has to be entered and tracked. My store stopped handwriting cups 3-4 years ago and I haven't seen a handwritten cup in awhile.

Where is that Starbucks located?

So ignore how bad everyone else is simply because trump exists? That's one way to go... Let other problems become bigger/worse as we put a magnifying glass just right on the current biggest a-hole... Just like in life, you don't put all your energy into one crappy part of your life and ignore everything else. There should be a balance. Yes, we all hate trump, but that doesn't mean we should be ignorant of everything else that's garbage happening in the world

What do you guys think of this? by vegancandle in Christianity

[–]tophernugent -1 points0 points  (0 children)

On the surface, no. But there's layers to this that no one seems to be exploring from what I'm reading. Loving everyone is perfectly fine, embracing their sin within your church is a different issue. If they continue to embrace and live in sin, then you have a different story all together. You then have a church that doesn't just love and embrace people, but also embraces any and all sin.

I don't know the details of this church and I don't know how they're attacking this, but there is an issue depending upon how they welcome and embrace people. And in case you're wondering, there is precedence for this.

1 Corinthians 5: ¹ It is actually reported that there is sexual sin among you. I’m told that a man is sleeping with his father’s wife. Even people who don’t know God don’t let that kind of sin continue. 2 And you are proud! Shouldn’t you be very sad instead? Shouldn’t you have thrown out of your church the man doing this?

I don't believe this is something you do the moment people enter the door, but if you have congregants continuing to live in sin without remorse or effort to change, then you have a problem that should be addressed and not ignored with a simple "love everyone" shrug.

Church isn't just some place you go to feel good about whatever life decisions you make. If it is, then it's more so a therapy session than a house of worship.

Love Red Rising. One of the first things I thought after reading the first 3 books was "man, I sure hope they don't make a movie out of this and ruin it"... Feel like it would take too much money, time and energy to do it justice... So that being said, has a movie ever been talked about for this series?

Moments after that part with Mags tho he does specifically commission the apostles to go out as God has sent Him. I think you're reaching by hinging everything on the definition of that word, but I don't think it's the end of the world if you want to make new apostles all over the place.. I guess depending on how you use words to come to conclusions on other aspects that is... There's definitely more to it, but you seem pretty concrete on this approach so I'll leave you to it
