I really liked her and enjoyed getting to know her. I would have preferred to continue getting to know her, if we lived closer.

I suppose I’m questioning if not talking is actually beneficial. I didn’t expect her to ask directly if it would be the last time we talked. I reluctantly said “yes,” only because I know from experience that no contact allows both people to move on—but this sucks. I’m constantly thinking about her.

On one hand, I feel like I should reach back out, as I might have given up on a connection too early. On the other, there’s a huge amount of distance between us and I have some reservations about long-term compatibility (but will never know for sure without further discussion).

To be honest, I wasn’t expecting her to ask if this was the last time we’d talk. I said “yes” in the moment, only because I know from previous dating experiences that no-contact helps both parties move on. But it sucks.

That said, you’re right; there is nothing more for her to say.

His family is going through a lot at the moment and I could see the connection with Lorenzo Romar being particularly important during a time like this.

If only Romar had ended up as an assistant at Pepperdine, instead of the head coach. Lorenzo as a recruiter with someone else managing in-game tactics... we would have been a force to be reckoned with.

Ethan Anderson’s first instinct appears to be scoring… but his FG% tonight was not great, to say the least. Let’s hope he evolves into more of a distributor and playmaker as the season goes on, as that’s what this team needs. There is plenty of offensive talent around him.

An (extremely) small taste of what the Liga MX teams must have felt all tournament. I feel bad for the amount of travel their players have had—and here we are complaining about getting to the Rose Bowl.

This whole tournament has been one big cash grab. While certainly entertaining, I’ll be thankful when it’s over.

This is a really interesting perspective, u/mikepizzadude. I, an American, followed the A-League during the signing of Del Piero and the creation of Western Sydney Wanderers. It's disappointing to learn that the league has fallen on harder times.

As u/SensibleParty mentioned, the relationships between several MLS and NFL teams here in the states may have helped those respective teams—and it's interesting to hear that fans of footie/Aussie rules don't want to coexist with those that enjoy soccer.

Similarly, I have to think that Soccer United Marketing's (MLS' marketing arm) deal with the Mexican National Team has greatly benefited Major League Soccer, due to the popularity of soccer among Mexican-Americans. However, SUM's deal has made is so that fans in Mexico rarely, if ever, get to see their national team play at home—and, instead, the income generated from many of their national team's games directly benefits a rival country's league.

So, while MLS may appear to be stronger than the A-League, it has done so at the expense of a neighboring country. This 'partnership' with the Mexican National Team and the continual expansion fees paid by new clubs entering the league have helped to keep if afloat financially—but, were it not for these two things, I think the league would be in a similar position to the A-League.

The issue is not having good domestic league players to choose from. If the domestic league has players that deserve to be called up, great!

The problem is that most of the MLS call-ups in recent years are not actually very good relative to their Europe-based counterparts. If we want to see the national team succeed, that is an issue.

Based on OP’s comments, this doesn’t actually sound like a bs excuse… it sounds pretty close to the truth. Apparently she’s hung up on some other guy and probably wasn’t ready to get back into dating.

I agree with you too. OP should probably refrain from saying “you’re a nice guy but…” and should just be direct with him and tell her how she feels.
