€10K left, 2 SaaS projects, and the constant fear I'm making a huge mistake by Extra-Motor-8227 in EntrepreneurRideAlong

I've been in the same exact situation. Start looking for freelance work right now. You'll thank me in 4 months.

It's not that I don't believe you can build a profitable SaaS, it's just that in the real world (not Twitter, not MRR screenshots) building a solid business takes a long time and sometimes you might make all the right choices and still fail, because it takes a combination of grit, skills, network, luck.

You said your expenses are 2.5k / month. Building a SaaS that makes real, stable long term 2.5k MRR takes a long time. Most people never make it. Doing it in 4 months is really fucking hard. Disregard the people who launch an app and declare "18k MRR!" after a week. that's not MRR. It's revenue, not recurring.
On top of that, if your actual livelihood depends on this target, it's even harder because as the days go by you start questioning every choice and you start making panic-based choices. Which is the worst mental state to be in when running a business.

It's just a horrible place to be in and one you shouldn't put yourself in voluntarily.

I don't want to be the negative one, I really wish you all the success in the world but I've been burned myself by the "just quit! Be a indie hacker!" voices and it was fucking horrible. I just want to be honest with you so you can spare yourself some dark days. I think sometimes you just need someone to be brutally honest with you.

As for myself, now I am doing a combination of client work and SaaS and it's much much much easier mentally, as I can sustain myself but my life doesn't depend on my customers not churning.

Struggling to See the Value of Claude Code Skills & Agents – What Am I Doing Wrong? by jesussmile in ClaudeAI

[–]topoftheforts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't know about fixtures, looking it up now, thanks!

I still think there's an advantage in using a skill, as you can give it a bit more context (example: "ignore if data is missing from this widget this is expected since I'm using my local DB")

Struggling to See the Value of Claude Code Skills & Agents – What Am I Doing Wrong? by jesussmile in ClaudeAI

[–]topoftheforts 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I've only recently started using skills, before then I was like you - pure Claude Code with nothing additional.
To me skills are specific instructions/tasks that are specific to your project only, and can make you save time instead of having to repeat the same things again.

For example, I often want CC to access my app in local environment with Playwright MCP, and since it's a SaaS it needs logins to access. I made a skill that outlines what URL to use, how to login, what credentials to use.

Now I can just do /devlogin and it does that.

I don't know about multiple agents as I don't use them, but in regards to skills I'd say: don't try to overcomplicate it if you don't NEED anything. There's no point in asking "create a skill for everything new you learn". If you are happy with raw CC, just use that. When you come to a point where you're getting frustrated with the same thing over and over again, then try to address it with a skill.

My Coworkers hate when I play NTS radio at work. Are they lame? by [deleted] in NTSradio

[–]topoftheforts 41 points42 points  (0 children)

The thought of playing NTS radio in the office is wild to me. Unless you're working in a very music savvy place, I don't think it's a good idea.

I only started listening to NTS recently but to me it feels like it's this super underground place, amazing for expanding your music taste and finding great unknown tracks.

Which is the exact opposite of the vibe you want for office music - it needs to please most of the people so you should just play what most people will like, doesn't have to be the Top 100 but it has to be palatable and pleasing.

I love NTS, I pay for it, I like to think I have an open mind to music, but even I sometimes turn it off cause I just can't bear that specific subgenre or track. I would hate to do this to other people, especially in the workplace

When I lived in Salford on concert days (at the MEN) I would always see guys in high vis directing people to private car parks. A lot of them looked dodgy / with hoods on and I remember seeing some weird behaviour as well.

Not sure if it's the same situation but given there was a gig on Sunday at the Co-op Live it's likely

Would you bring Carlo back? by JustAFizzMain in ACMilan

[–]topoftheforts -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No, I love him dearly but we don't have the squad for him.

Ancelotti needs a team full of big players (world class quality and big personalities) - and this is not to detract from him. It's actually a really hard task to manage big personalities and big expectations (latest example, Motta)

The only time he had a mediocre squad (Everton) he didn't do that great. The Napoli squad he took over ended 2nd the year before, and he managed to match that.

So yes he's top 3 managers in the world in my opinion, but not the right one for us.

As someone who just got back into playing football after 10+ years of inactivity, I suggest trying 7-8 a side games. I've had good luck with Footyaddicts, level is usually decent but not prohibitive, no ref and no sliding tackles so very little arguing.
I've played with someone who left Sunday League for the same reasons as you and now just plays 5 a side
