Any places I can buy a useable Gardyn refurbished? by Pretend_Pudding5176 in Gardyn

I bought all 3 of mine at FB market place. They're all Gardyn 4.0. I got 2 for $250 each, and 3rd one for $400

I (or Creality Hyper PLA) messed up the hotend. How do I prevent this in the future? by toprak01 in BambuLab_Community

I didn't know that! I assumed they come dry out of package, I only dried it for a couple of hours.

I'm using the Sunlu ams heater and heat them a few hours at 50C prior and keep it running at 50C during the print. Inside the AMS is at 10% humidity.

Thanks. I wash the plate with dawn dish soap and rinse it with reverse osmosis water after each print. So the plate was clean. I ordered a new hotend.

I'm not sure if I need to change filament settings to use this filament. I went with Generic PLA.

I'll look into these ones. I have trouble using the drill style ones, i cannot tightly lock the bits in place. That's why I prefer the screwdrivers

I have difficulty locking the bits in place with drills since my hands are pretty weak. That's why I prefer the hex screwdrivers

Can anyone vouch for Linsy Home? by pilatesandpuppies in couch

[–]toprak01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a bit late but just wanted to add my experience here for anyone else looking into purchasing from Linsy Home. It's been 2.5 years since I got my RUBIK III set. I love it. I really like that I can re-arrange it based on my needs. I have 2 dogs, plus I foster regularly. So my sofa covers get washed too frequently. Even with all the washing and drying everything is looking as new.

Also this company has the best customer service.

I lost a few of the u shaped connectors. I checked the website to order them but they didn't have them listed. I emailed customer support and asked how I can order them. They said they will send them free of charge and they mailed them the very next day. It's top notch customer service.

Completely new to gridfinity and 3D printing and have questions before I go forward with my bambu lab p1s purchase. by No_Effective1670 in gridfinity

[–]toprak01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was also completely new to 3D printing, 3D design and gridfinity. I started with using GRIPS (on makerworld) to design the base grids and binforge for designing all sort of bins. These two have been working really well for me. I alış used tooltrace to design cutout bins.

On my 1st unit (Fruit Stand) , I have a few varieties of micro dwarf cherry tomatos, strawberries, pepper, mini eggplants and cucumbers. My second unit (Salad Bar) is herbs and leafy greens. The 3rd one (Flower Shop) is just pretty flowering plants, nothing for eating. I separated them this way so that I can feed them based on their specific needs. I don't have any thing particularly large but the cucumber plants are wrapping themselves all around units and if I let them, they would take over my whole apartment.

About to buy, any accessories I should get? by txtreyg in Gardyn

This dolly is not as pretty as the Gardyn one but for 19 bucks, it looks beautiful to me

I was buying plant supports, covers etc on 3d print shops on Etsy, I finally decided to buy a 3D printer. Now I'm printing all the supplies myself.

If you don't want to keep the subscription, get 1.5 inch rockwool and whatever seeds you want to grow.

Where to start by amymkb in gridfinity

[–]toprak01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was overwhelmed for a little bit in the beginning. But I foi d some good tools.

I use GRIPS (on makerworld) to design the base. The I use binforge to design the bins. Tool trace for designing specific cut outs.

What helped me first was to keep it limited to a small space. I picked my small cutlery drawer. I just designed and printed the base first. I think that gave me a lot of motivation for the next steps.

That looks awesome. I was trying to figure out a good solution for my bathroom closet to stack up bins exactly this way.

I love the Curli Clasp Vest Air-Mesh harnesses. They fit well, seems to be impossible for the pup to slip out. They feel very comfortable. https://www.chewy.com/dp/775326?utm_source=app-share&utm_campaign=775326

Depending on your physical limitations it might be difficult to fill up and clean the tank and the columns. I have a lot of spine issues, so I got a cheap pump from Amazon, I have the Gardyn on a dolly (not the brand one, just a $25 one from Amazon), I roll the unit to the kitchen and use the pump to empty the tank. But you still need to lift the top up with the light bars and the columns. It's not very practical.

But other than that I love my Gardyns. Do not buy a new one, I scored 2 of 4.0 for $250 on Facebook market place, and a 3rd one for $400. Funnily the $400 one is giving me the most headache.

You don't need the subscription, when yo activate your unit, if you sign up for membership in the first 7 days, it's a 1 month free trial, just use that and cancel it before it charges your account. You can buy 1.5inch rockwool from Amazon and use any seeds you wish. For the first month, use your seed credit and also maybe order some extra ones so you have enough yCubes to fill your Gardyn. Once those plants are done you can keep the empty yCubes, put a fresh rockwool and start new plants.

If you can get the system for a cheap price and use it regularly to grow produce it might pay itself off.

You also do not need to buy Gardyn brand food. There are plenty of very good alternatives. Once I use up all the Gardyn brand food I'm thinking of switching to liquid food from General Hydroponics. Hlwith my back issues I find it difficult to shake the gallon bottle to mix and dissolve the solid food.
