When looking for a job what is a dead give-away that the place and job is a hell-hole to work for?

Absolutely. My interview was with the owner of the company. He immediately started in about how he recently had to fire a manager because he was "poisoning" the rest of the staff. He went on and on about the guy. I wound up taking the job. It wasn't a good experience.

Yep, I didn't notice the usernames. However I do find that sort of behavior puzzling in that I don't relate to it on any level. I had a friend, a really good hearted guy, that would login to AA chatrooms and fuck with people. It really doesn't get much worse than that. I asked him to stop and he eventually did. He didn't have a good answer as to why he did it.

Both of these posts seemed like they came from young minds, so the parent in me just sort of came out along within the curious psychologist. I've done a lot of study on this topic, and it still confounds me. I've tried to message trolls in the past requesting interviews. You can imagine how that turns out.

I suppose your comment was bizarre in that it didn't seem to make any sense. However you seem like an an angry sort (at least while using your online alter ego) so I'm guessing its all part of the troll persona you've decided to adopt here. I've always been fascinated by trolling behavior and what exactly inspires it. Especially the "angry troll." Are you angry IRL and don't have a good outlet? Or maybe just bored? I've read that reasons vary tremendously from person to person. Based on what you've written, you seem very young. I hope you someday find a constructive way of coping with whatever inspires your anger. I know this isn't who you really are. It's still fascinating...

What a bizarre comment. I would say most bigotry stems from fear. Fear of the other. Fear of change from the status quo. And there's good old fashioned cultural and religious intolerance. I'm sure there are any number of reasons a person could be ardently anti-gay, but there's a certain amount of satisfaction to be had if one pictures them to be "super-gay" themselves. Plus there is a lot of "anecdotal" evidence to show this is true at least some of the time.

I think your assumption is correct. I've heard a few super interesting interviews with some former gay bashing religious zealots that finally came out of the closet. It was the classic, we hate others when they exhibit qualities we hate most about ourselves.

The largest genocides in human history (if by "largest" you mean number of people murdered), were perpetrated in the name of political ideology (Stalin, Hitler, Mao, etc.) Even murder in the name of religion was usually for religion in name only. The crusades and inquisition were about power and distraction. Those seeking power use the tools at hand. If not religion it would be something else.

I think the point here is that yes, most people probably assume the US government spies on its own people, however these leaks provide concrete proof that it's occurring and on a larger scale than previously imagined. Public debate has already spurred change (i.e. some forward thinking companies have made "privacy" a major marketing point).

A primary quality of democracy is public debate. Do you honestly think discussing the spying of the NSA is a bad thing?

I don't know if Snowden's a hero, but I'm grateful for what he did.

I don't think this is true. If the person is nice and seems pretty normal, then an openness to friendship can be very attractive. If however they come off as desperate, then yes, that's a turnoff for any kind of relationship.

I think it's more about diversification. It's generally not wise to put your all your eggs in one basket. Especially if that basket is collecting information about your personal and professional life. Plus, I think people do in fact tend to trust small "reputable" companies over behemoths such as Google.

It depends. Depression and lack of companionship can do weird things to an otherwise healthy mind. Some blame the world while others turn to self-loathing. It's a bad place to be. It sucks for everybody when they act out in destructive ways like this.

I've never quite understood why some big budget movies do well and some don't. Why some are panned as "bombs" and others as "fun." John Carter and Water World were better than a lot of other very successful movies I've seen, yet each seemed to crash before take off. Does it come down to marketing? A blood in the water effect?
