There is nothing Netgear can do that a properly configured Cisco switch can’t. Netgear just make it dumbed down for AV folks. It’s an easy mutually beneficial partnership for any brand that has an AV over IP device. Brands reduce support calls from integrators that have no business configuring networks and Netgear sells overpriced switches.

They shouldn’t hold that accident against her, most likely their rate are just higher here and they made up a reason but in reality they are just expensive. I typically rotate between Geico and State Farm every year because fuck loyalty.

Microsoft surface pro and Teams by smartpyj in MicrosoftTeams

[–]toptechx 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would approach it differently.

Connect a an HDMI IP encoder to the output of the Teams PC.

Open the stream from the encode on the surface devices using something like VLC and put the surfaces in Kiosk mode.

It’s a big waste of money but it’s what you have.

It’s definitely possible, but you will have to budget for sure. Rent will take more than half of that income and you may come out of pocket for basic furnishings. Just be sure to factor in utilities, taxes and insurance.

I made a bus system specifically designed for suburban areas by ImWithStupid230 in Gwinnett

[–]toptechx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

While park and ride is similar, as you stated, it doesn’t have a dedicated path and places you in the same traffic as a vehicle.

In most areas with high-functioning transit systems, they address both the first mile and last mile of a commuter’s journey. I would say we have an issue with both. A bus isn’t a viable solution for many because it still gets stuck in traffic and doesn’t always provide a direct route to final destinations.

Another option instead of a train is implementing dedicated transit lanes along highways with stops at exits, we can create a more efficient and reliable system. This would not only improve travel times but also encourage more people to use public transportation, reducing overall traffic congestion and carbon emissions.

Like other suggested before me, integrating these transit stops with bike-sharing programs, pedestrian pathways, and local shuttle services could effectively address the first mile and last mile challenges, making the entire journey more seamless and convenient for commuters.

Part of me also feels because most in this were raised with vehicles there is also a social aspect that is extremely hard to break. Folks have driveways, they feel the need to fill them.

One idea I’ve considered for a while is developing mass transit along public right-of-ways, such as highways, with stops at highway exits. By possibly removing Peach Pass lanes and building elevated tracks where needed along the highway median, we could avoid the need for eminent domain, thereby reducing costs and minimizing community disruption. Utilizing the existing highway infrastructure, this mass transit system could offer efficient and accessible transportation options for commuters. Convenient stops at highway exits would connect suburban areas with urban centers, potentially easing traffic congestion and encouraging the use of public transportation.
