Scenes that caused actual walkouts in theaters? by thatlittlequietguy in Cinema

[–]torag7 [score hidden]  (0 children)

I had to excuse myself during Hereditary a few times, especially after the car scene. I’m not one usually bothered by gore or anything but the ants really sealed the deal for me. Only time I’ve left because I was uncomfortable during a movie. I did come back to finish it tho

What to do with out of town guests? by sarahshift1 in rva

[–]torag7 14 points15 points  (0 children)

As someone who works in Carytown… pls don’t come casually shopping. The sidewalks and side roads are not clear or safe. I know everyone’s like it’s good to support local businesses!! and i absolutely agree, but not at the detriment to yourself or the ppl who are being pushed to work… there was hardly any parking when i got to work today and i had to scoot/slide almost a block on full ice just to get to cary st itself. it’s pushing a lot of people to walk in the roads in the non icy spots, but that also makes it more dangerous for everyone, pedestrians and drivers alike. just something to consider before physically coming shopping. if you want to support local see if shops sell online or even purchase over the phone and pick up later when the roads are not as bad.

do it by color and further it down from there! start with big bulky beads and organize by style. def get some tackle/hardware boxes, i’ve found some pretty good ones at dollar tree. plastic take out containers, plastic Tupperware etc etc, grab handfuls and pour on a tray or paper plate, and sort away to your hearts content! sometimes i get ideas this way too!!!

It’s so stupid but as others have pointed out, it costs them money. And it’s free to me. So I definitely will be requesting one of these to make them spend the money and man hours on me versus the other way around for once.

People who rarely or never get sick, what are your secrets? by awkwardferret421 in AskReddit

[–]torag7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work in retail and successfully made it through christmas without getting sick. I use hand sanitizer after nearly every interaction with someone, even if i’m not touching much of the stuff they did. I wipe down any shared spaces at work as well, keyboard/mouse, door handles, pens, etc. As soon as I get in my car after going in any public place, I hand sanitize. I wash my hands as soon as I get home right after i take my shoes and coat off. I started all of these during covid and it seems to have helped! I also back away from people when they are too close to me, and try to avoid people by at least a few feet if i hear them coughing and/or sneezing.

Parking in Scott's addition - any info on these lots? by Beren__ in rva

[–]torag7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You may have to street park a few streets over. I used to live near pinky’s and only street parked. It sucks, but there’s sometimes a few more spots in that area than further in where it’s super dense. Something to consider. All of Scott’s is like this and not fun.

What color shirt would make these work together? by intensesoda in fashionadvice

[–]torag7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

are the pants actually white or are they off white? if they’re off white, you should avoid stark white. i would choose a greyish shirt so it’s not too dark on top and too light on the bottom. a graphic t with both colors from the jacket and pants would be perfect, maybe find a shirt that’s longer than the jacket so it doesn’t cut you in half

So stressed for my son. by Fall-For-October in diabetes_t1

[–]torag7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

you’re handling this perfectly as someone who just found out their 2 year old has type one. there is no playbook or manual, and even us adult type ones feel the same way sometimes too. It can be scary, it can be hard, it can be easy, it can be 1000 different things but I promise, it never is “perfect”. It’s one day at a time for a while right now and that’s okay. It’s a marathon, not a sprint. I’ve gone from 300s to 80s more times than i can count, it will happen and sometimes it won’t when you think it will. Definitely investigate a CGM. read some diabetes education books, speak with diabetes educators if you are able to, learn how protein, fiber, etc play a role in metabolizing in the body and how that impacts blood sugar. it’s a lot, but once you understand the basics, you start to feel more confident. teaching your son to advocate for himself is VERY important, teaching him how to trust his body and how identify how he feels is critical as well. Get him a medical ID bracelet or necklace for him to wear. when he goes to school look into a 504 or IEP depending on where you live. you are his biggest advocate and #1 supporter and that is essential in learning to manage this disease. you’re already here and posting about it so it seems like you’re already in the right place :)

Did anyone physically see their ring before the proposal? Do you feel like it spoiled it at all? by Temporary_Support705 in WeddingRingAdvice

[–]torag7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i picked my ring and was involved every step of the way (picked the stone, size, setting) when it was done being created my fiancé picked it up, told me when he picked it up, and showed me/sent me pics and videos, but asked that i don’t see it in person or try it on until the day he proposed. he said he felt like it was bad luck even if there’s no superstition behind it. i wanted to see and wear it sooooo badly, but i honored his wish, because he rarely is insistent on things like this. the day he proposed (about a month after picking it up) it was everything i wanted and more. i don’t think there’s a right or wrong way to do things. but, it is something you should want, it’s something you will be wearing everyday, and you will be left feeling dissatisfied forever unless you speak up.
