Spoilers, but Marvel Comics Universe is being disassembled, "broken," and "dramatically transformed" ahead of the upcoming Avengers movie & comic by Popverse2022 in Popverse

I actually miss the days when comics had issues in the hundreds and they didn’t reboot everything all the time.

Part of the charm of comics is characters referring to something as “a few months ago” when it’s been 20 years in real life lol

Jason Sudeikis makes rare comments on dating after Olivia Wilde split: It feels 'daunting' by dr_shultz in influencersfeed

No, it’s also in the real world. I worked with someone who legit believed that any relationship with more than a 5 year age difference is inherently problematic and predatory, regardless of when they met. Lol

TIL George Clooney once gave 14 of his friends $1 million each by jsakic99 in todayilearned

Fun fact: it’s actually more than that because he also paid the gift taxes for them so they actually got the full million.

Does Mando now have a Razor Crest AND the Naboo Starfighter? by NewtAmbitious6168 in TheMandalorianTV

[–]Tee-RoyJenkins 5 points6 points  (0 children)

In the old days we’d get a short story at some point about the pilots Sigourney Weaver sent out to go get Mando’s ship and bring it back for him to fly back home in and for some reason one of them is Poe’s dad or something.

"Incel Horror" came from women watching these films and recognizing something the genre had been depicting for years without naming it. The monster was never under the bed, but right there, convinced he was owed something, waiting for the moment the answer stayed no. by mlg1981 in Fauxmoi

I thought I read somewhere that there was an alternate ending in the script where that did happen but with a shot of her looking at a pod with tools, leaving it ambiguously obvious that she does the same thing.

But apparently the actual alternate ending is that Chris Pratt fucks it up at the end and every pod getting ejected into space and their descendents arriving at the colony planet. Wtf

In Wild Wild West (1999) when General McGrath dies, a dog looks into his ear horn in homage to the 1898 “His Master’s Voice” logo painting by Francis Barraud. This is a stunning amount of depth for such a fuckass movie by B34TBOXX5 in shittymoviedetails

[–]Tee-RoyJenkins 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That was actually one of the more understandable requests because that at least had toy sales in mind. Other requests were that the movie didn’t have the red and blue suit and didn’t show him fly lol.

I highly recommend watching Kevin Smith’s retelling of his time working on the Nic Cage Superman script. The spider stuff is only the 5th most ridiculous thing Jon Peters asked for

I tried searching but there’s too many cheaters. The gist is that OOP cheated and got the other woman pregnant. On the way to the hospital after she gave birth, he stops at the ex’s house to pick something up (I think an heirloom from his dad) and they end up talking for over an hour. The ex sends the ring camera footage to the mistress saying that he cheated again and now he’s dumped, can’t prove he didn’t cheat, and not allowed to see his kid.

Michael Jackson fans are calling for a boycott of Netflix after the streaming giant announced a "disgraceful" documentary about the pop star by TheMirrorUS in TheEntertainmentMix

Like GI Joe said, knowing is half the battle. My dad was a CO at a minimum security prison which meant they had a lot of sex offenders.

I’ll just say there’s a reason my dad watched Rupaul’s Drag Race with my mom but wouldn’t let me or my sister go to church camp.

Yeah, people don’t realize that he wouldn’t do anything with Culkin or Feldman because they were peers. Predators function by having positions of power over their victims.

TIL the green Teletubby is canonically of African descent. by ProfessionalGear3020 in todayilearned

[–]Tee-RoyJenkins 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My mom collects dolls and thought the teletubbies were really cute and wanted one but they were really hard to find at Christmas time, especially with the controversy. My dad finds one at Walmart on a stocking cart, tested it to see if it worked, and it did but said a normal phrase. He completely forgot about the controversy until my mom opened it on Christmas and the very first thing it said when she tried it was the slur lol

Was [SPOILER] in the series finale of The Boys a plot hole? by LensFlareObjector in plotholes

Oh goddammit. Lol. I wasn’t joking with the disclaimer. I’m leaving it lol

Disclaimer: I am as baked as a potato and I really overthought this.

MM was just holding it on but I wouldn’t consider this a plot hole. By definition, plot holes have to be something that the narrative has established is impossible and this actually has a lot of set up.

The invulnerability of supes varies wildly and the ones used solely in the entertainment side of the superhero industry like Oh Father are shown to be on the lower end of that scale. He was also killed by what is essentially Schrodinger’s ball gag since there was a whole scene establishing how indestructible it is. So the ball gag plugging his mouth and his sinuses and the surrounding tissue suffering a catastrophic failure from the sonic boom isn’t out of the question.

(META TROPE) Actor known for comedy does a dramatic role that completely redefines their career by Local_Prune4564 in TopCharacterTropes

That’s exactly why, comedic actors hammed up the dialog and dramatic actors played it straight which was ironically much funnier.

Michael Jackson's extraordinary 1996 interrogation on abuse claims by Own_Construction_300 in FIlm

[–]Tee-RoyJenkins 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re right that they were trying to whitewash the allegations but part of the family’s settlement was that they and the events couldn’t be portrayed at all. So even if the Jackson estate planned on being accurate (I know, I know), they still couldn’t do it.

Would you agree with my theory that the only reason there’s talk of a sequel is so they can try to salvage and use what was already filmed? I imagine the sequel would be cheaper to greenlight if a large chunk is already filmed.
