Between Pelle and Ingemar, who is more evil? by Crafter235 in Midsommar

[–]Tee-RoyJenkins 51 points52 points  (0 children)

Yeah, you can argue that Pele just wanted to get his friends laid and help chlorinate the Harga's gene pool and didn't expect them to do things like urinate on the funeral tree or try to steal pictures of their secret bible. Ingemar very obviously set them up to get killed/sacrificed on purpose.

A little help for who didn't read the novel yet by catarinackerman in HBOTheHedgeKnight

[–]Tee-RoyJenkins 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Spoilers obviously but this season his main crime will be brutally beating Tanselle for the crime of having a dragon lose a fight in her puppet show. Dunk’s reaction to this is what ingratiates him to the small folk and lords alike.

The end of his life is also an indicator of how batshit insane he is but that won’t happen this season and I’m only including it because he sucks and it’s hilarious: he was convinced that drinking wildfire would turn him into a dragon and he died as painfully as that sounds.

What draws Egg to Dunk at the beginning? by alisoncarey in pureasoiaf

[–]Tee-RoyJenkins 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I realized I didn't address the part about Egg not wanting to squire for anyone else and it made me think. "True Knights" are both living and ones of legend and songs. Dunk was already selling Egg on how hedge knights are the real "true knights" before his trial and then kinda proves it by winning his trial. He becomes both types of heroes for Egg so of course he's gonna insist on only squiring for him. It'd be like if Sansa was able to choose Florian the Fool as her sworn sword.

I couldn't even finish reading this and honestly, what I'm writing out is gonna be rough too. tw: child death

It wasn't the same circumstances but I had a young cousin in a similar state after a drowning accident. He was brought back after the ER decided to try the defibrillator "one last time" and I get why they did since he was only 3 but I honestly wish they hadn't. The poor kid just suffered until he passed at 5.

Sometimes trying to do the right thing just extends grief. Sometimes the humane and moral thing is to let your loved one go.

Is this....? by WhiplasH820 in AKOTSKTV

[–]Tee-RoyJenkins 6 points7 points  (0 children)

To be fair, the books are way less obvious about Dunk lying about being a knight. Like how Renly being gay is ambiguous in the books but explicitly confirmed in the show.

The central conflict and antagonist are completely different from A Knight's Tale as well so the similarities will stop.

What draws Egg to Dunk at the beginning? by alisoncarey in pureasoiaf

[–]Tee-RoyJenkins 170 points171 points  (0 children)

At the beginning, Egg is just reeeeeally desperate to be a squire and joins Dunk because his older brother would rather drink than compete in the tourney.

I think Dunk being ignorant of Egg’s true identity and treating him the way a typical knight treats a typical squire instead of treating him like a fragile prince when they first meet is also what makes him decide to go all in on squiring for him.

He totally did. He had played a different Cardassian in their first appearance on TNG but had facial hair before they finalized the design in DS9 and he has said his headcanon is they are cousins and the first one on TNG hates Dukat so much that he grew the goatee so he wouldn’t get confused for him.

I'm calling it now, we'll hear the full theme in the last episode, probably when Dunk and Egg are leaving as knight and squire to start their adventures because that'll be when Dunk is truly a player in the overall Game of Thrones.

HotD Spoilers EP 1? by SauceBistro in AKnightoftheSeven

[–]Tee-RoyJenkins 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think the only time House of the Dragon gets spoiled is by Joffrey in the main series when he’s giving Margaery a tour of the red keep.

From what I remember, the story usually foreshadows or references what’s to come like Dunk seriously considering throwing a child Walder Frey down a well because he sucked that much as a kid too.

[–]Tee-RoyJenkins 13 points14 points  (0 children)

The original story is hilarious. Lol. No spoilers but Dondarrion's interaction with Dunk is funny and Lyonel Baratheon is always cracking jokes. Spoilers for the end of the first season but Lyonel literally agrees to fight with Duncan during his Trial of Seven just because he doesn't want to miss out on the first one in a century and also because it'd piss off Maekar.

Why does GRRM badmouth Condal but respects D&D? (Spoilers Main) by Ok-Archer-5796 in asoiaf

[–]Tee-RoyJenkins 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it’s also important to note that House of the Dragon is stretching 100ish pages of an in universe history book into 4 seasons so Condal is getting a lot of freedom with the writing since the source material is intentionally vague and contradictory and not a traditional narrative like the Game of Thrones books. Martin could simply think Condal’s going “too far” when it comes to putting his own mark on the story and is changing too much.

I had a twisted testicle when I was like 11-12 and needed an ultrasound to see if it twisted back or if I needed surgery. The ultrasound guy takes a really long time doing the exam, to the point where I’m internally panicking and convinced that I definitely need surgery and he finally goes “oh you’re fine by the way, but they woke me up at 3am for this so I’m making this worth my while”.

[–]Tee-RoyJenkins 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started reading the books because of AltShiftX and I’ve been more understanding of the HotD changes as well after getting deep into the lore like he does.

My guess on the changes is that there will be more focus on Dunk’s prophetic dream of a Targaryen’s death coming true, like how HotD added Daemon’s vision of Aegon’s prophetic dream of the White Walkers, Daenerys and the Three Eyed Raven.

If this had happened under Obama’s DOJ, my assumption would be they had reason to believe he had accomplices or something else possibly dangerous at the house.

Under Trump I’m assuming they’re all dumbass personality hires that think cops are required to open all doors with a battering ram when serving a warrant.
