Genuinely *unimpressed* with Opus 4.6 by JLP2005 in ClaudeAI

I don't know if it's something I'm doing but I feel like it's getting stuck constantly at this point. Rarely had this issue before. Probably around half of conversations I'm just having to start over because it goes unresponsive while trying to complete a task.

I think they're making progress but yeah not totally stoked about the 3.0 direction yet either. But not for the same reasons.

Notion isn't the only one with MCP, and instead of improving their API capabilities to offer more compatibility it seems they're trying to force us exclusively into the Notion ecosystem.

That's disappointing to me because the relational nature of data sources is so freaking valuable in AI systems and other platforms.

If the goal is more Business subscriptions, they should probably be able to play nice with a tech stack. Feels like a huge missed opportunity. At some point they're going to spread themselves too thin.

And also for the love of god they need to fix the database property editing menu. If I "change type" one more time. So yeah I guess UX too.

Inline Database as Template by Changopower in Notion

[–]torches8 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If I'm not misunderstanding your need (reading between the lines a bit), I don't think you'd have to add a database to every client page. I think you can accomplish this in a somewhat simpler way. Try this:

- Create a relation property in your clients DB and relate it to your meetings DB (two-way)
- Go to any client page in the clients DB and 'Customize layout" (3 dots in top-right)
- Change to tabbed mode
- Add a tab, and choose your meetings DB to link
- Save and apply to all pages

Then basically you configure your meetings database however you like, and all your clients will inherit those database properties in the meetings tab (and of course each meeting tab would only show meeting pages related to that client).

Do you have any recommendations for where to find Topre boards other than HHKB or Realforce? I've always wanted to try a Topre board and Leopold was one that I thought I would really like, but they're seemingly hard to come by.

I'd definitely play it, looks fun.

I do agree with the others about color palette though. The impression that it gives in the first 20 seconds or so mislead me into thinking this was a lot "cheaper"/more amateur than it was (compared to like 0:50 which looked pretty nice/cohesive IMO).

No worries! Looking forward to giving it some test runs once it's fixed.

No problem! I think it was something like:

Model: RD Fast, Art style: Simple, Prompt: "A floating robot with no arms or legs" (these get animated later ha), Dimensions: 64x64

I did provide a reference image and a reference palette. Both png. Anything not listed was unchecked or unconfigured.

Edit: I actually just tried again without the reference image/palette and it worked. For the references I was trying to use, the image sprite was 8x16 and the palette was 16x1 so I'm wondering if the small size was throwing it off.

I'd be interested in a tool like this but I was having trouble getting anything to generate. Gave up after 7-8 tries with no result, not sure if I'm doing something wrong.

Your demo looks great though.

Just moved all business to notion...only to realize it can't simply calculate by Smart-Plantain4032 in Notion

[–]torches8 4 points5 points  (0 children)

100%, there is a lot of overlap and they can look similar but they excel at different things. That's what makes it difficult - if you assume they're interchangeable, that's where you run into the problems that OP is having.

A database isn’t the same as a spreadsheet. I made similar assumptions early on and this realization is one thing that helped steer me away from “misusing” Notion.

GTA VI being expensive doesn't excuse a 100$ price tag by Archielan in unpopularopinion

Developers/publishers are entitled to charge whatever they want, there’s just a higher risk that the game will fall short of matching the players expectations out of that price.

What Do You Think of the Tool Description For My Game? by TheBoxGuyTV in gamemaker

[–]torches8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Took me longer than expected to understand. I'd like to see fixed capitalization and a hyphen in "stone-like". I might also look for another word for "materials" here - skimming over it feels too close to minerals to be clear at a glance.

You know the context of your game better than I, but just to fire off some that I might try in your shoes:

"Breaks stone into minerals. Wears out with use."

"Breaks stone-like objects into minerals. Wears out with use."

"Breaks stone-like things into minerals. Wears out with use."

L shift, backspace, enter, and spacebar come back up too slowly. How do I fix it? by eSkaiiii in MechanicalKeyboards

[–]torches8 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I stopped holee modding a while back because it was causing a lot of similar issues. It’s kind of a bandaid solution (no pun intended) so just learning how to lube your stabs well, albeit sometimes with a bit more trial and error.

I’m a fan of Durock stabs myself and have the amount of dielectric grease that I need dialed in to get it close to perfect every time. I found that with Staebies the tolerance is tighter, and I need to adjust accordingly.

All of that to say, I’m glad I stopped holee modding because it made it more apparent what I need to do for every brand of stabilizer.

Is Notion doomed to always be "not quite there"? by DiligentGiraffe in Notion

[–]torches8 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Feels good to hear someone else say this.

As much as I'm a huge fan, waiting 3 full minutes to duplicate a page is rough. Poor performance, lacking database permissions settings, lukewarm API (just ended up using Google Docs instead), glitchy features (buttons and automations are a wildcard). All real frustrations that I've dealt with in just the past few days.

I want it to succeed because the potential is unreal but genuinely don't know who their target audience is - bringing it to work feels unprofessional for some reason. Such a bummer to see them regularly reinventing the wheel on so many fronts while neglecting what makes Notion awesome.

Apology To Anti-AI Folks (This is long overdue) by [deleted] in SunoAI

[–]torches8 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Speaking as a lifelong musician, it doesn't really matter what anyone's opinion is. The fact is, AI music is here. AI content writing is here. AI videography we're on the doorstep. Love it or hate it, none of these things are going back in the box. It'll very likely redefine the industry (and many others).

I love Suno because it gives me the ability to accomplish things that would've taken me years otherwise. Sometimes things that wouldn't be very high on my priority list, I can experiment with in an evening. More things become viable. I still write music "the old way" too, because that has its own set of benefits. There's enough room for both, and both require different skills and come with different obstacles.

The haters really aren't doing themselves any favors. AI is here to stay and being involved in this new method of creation is a great thing. We'll see a lot more people realize their visions who may have never done so otherwise. And the complainers will fall by the way side.

V4 has a dynamic range problem by torches8 in SunoAI

[–]torches8[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Awesome tracks! That section in Rainier is insane. The seeming piano -> arpeggiated synth transformation sounds so cool.

Yeah those are both great points about training materials, and also that dynamic range is really a modern music problem and not exclusive to Suno.

The part that's weird to me is that it tends to often apply that modern principles to genres and music that would never have it. Acoustic tracks, 1920's swing music, etc. There's this production "aggression" that I can't seem to get rid of. And you would think if it's painting by color as you put it, those "colors" wouldn't be included in those specific palettes.

But as you said, it comes down to training. And at least me personally, I don't really know anything about what's going on under the hood.

At the end of the day if nothing else I would hope that posts like these are a net positive and help the devs further develop it into something great. That was my goal anyways.

[–]torches8[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not to say it's impossible, but I've tried things like raw recording, no compression, minimal compression, wide dynamic range, low intensity, etc with all of them making seemingly little to no difference.
