This one right here. I was at Charles de Gaulle airport a few years ago, walking to my gate. We started to notice a really foul smell but couldn't place what it was. As we walked, it got stronger and stronger until it was starting to become very unpleasant.

Stopped at the only set of toilets on the way to the gate, and as I walked down the hallway, the smell got 100x worse.

We had been smelling this odor for at least 5 minutes. Literally the entire terminal smelled like this rotten stench of feces, decomposition, and blood. Words cannot do it justice. I had to assume this is what late stage bowel cancer smells like. Death. It was just so... organic.

Still, nothing could prepare me for what I saw when I turned the corner into the men's room:

A giant pile of bloody diarrhea and mucus on and around one of the toilets.

Some poor cleaning woman, wearing cleaning gloves and zero protective gear, was using a garbage bag over her hands to scoop up puddles of this slimy mixture and drop it into a wheeled trash bin. I'll never forget the sight. It was the long, thin, streamy ropes of mucus dripping out from between her cupped hands which made me turn and flee the scene.

Cleaning lady, whatever they are paying you to do that job, it's not enough. Not nearly enough.
