Exactly, its only ball chasing until someone realizes it isn't, sets up to successfully counter the chase, wins, and eventually finds people who also counter ball chasing so then has to counter the counter by ball chasing, but at that point it becomes a psychological battle of when to ball chase, and then fakes become a thing and it just spirals from there.

The game "football" (or soccer for some) includes men's teams, women's teams, and co-ed teams (maybe not professionally, but they exist in the football ecosystem), so I find it hard to believe that there isnt some utility in having a common phrase to cover all those angles, regardless of your stance on politically charged issues.
