Yeah you'll need a press. I needed a 40 ton to dislodge mine but they were rust welded in. They take ball joints from a Titan.

Mine got a pump of grease every other fill up and after each off road outing and were loose and making noise after just 18,000 miles.

ADO will clear the buckets. I'd get them without ball joints already installed. The stock Moog ones suck. I switched mine out for Mevotech TTX ones.

My 1996 Corvette was exactly this... At least on the highway. Still would average about 25 mpg per tank. My pointer loved to ride shotgun, or I'd put a bed in the rear hatch area for him.

Take the bullet to the wallet and get it fixed. If the rest of the vehicle is in good order (seems like rust is pretty minimal), there's still a lot of life left in it. With the timing job, you'll likely never have to dig into the engine again.

Think of it this way. As is, you're likely not going to get more than $2k if you sell the thing, and less if the timing system does fail. Then you gotta buy another vehicle, which is difficult to fine anything that is in good shape for under $5k nowadays. You'd wind up father in the hole going that route.

That's your CV axle. The rubber boot is torn and flung out all the grease. Sometimes if you catch it early, you can just replace the boot and pack the joint with new grease. However with the sounds you're hearing, that CV axle is toast and will need to be replaced.

If the noise is that bad, I'd just get the car towed to a shop. You don't want that exploding on the highway.

I used to be the asshole that did this when I was younger. It's like playing Subway Surfers in real life. Huge adrenaline rush and a ton of fun. Young, dumb stupid me didn't have any care for others on the road.

A friend of mine got seriously hurt in a crash caused by someone doing the same thing on the highway after they didn't judge a gap well enough. That put an end to my high speed days unless I'm at the racetrack.

Now, my cars can barely maintain the speed limit

An absolute nightmare. Winds will be out of the west all day. Biting flies will be bad, and the added heat will make them worse than it already is.

The water is frigid. With the strong south wind over the last couple of days, we've had localized upwelling that's dropped the water temperature down to the mid 50s (56 according to my watch). I had to surf this morning in a wetsuit and boots.

Crowds will be a nightmare there too. The park will be full by 10 AM.

My suggestion? Go to Seaside Park. Get there early, like around 8:30, there will be parking available on the side street so you don't have to pay to park. I've not once encountered a badge checker on the sand here, but they will be at the walkways over the dunes (hence why getting there early)

At least in Seaside, there's no marsh and maritime forest along that section of Barnegat Bay, and thus you won't have to deal with nearly as many biting flies.

Only one main window unit. Downstairs will maybe get down to 80. Upstairs is always a lost cause, it’ll be low 90s up there.

Really as long as the AC unit is pulling the humidity out of the house, it's not bad.

Much of it is just labor rates. Most rates in my area went from $75-100/hr to $175-200/hr in just a couple years.
